Replying to I'm in a squeeze help

Yeah so my skis got stolen in early march, I filed a claim for insurance, I just got the check for 598.00. I was stoked, I was about to get next years PE's from a rep i know. Ok, cool. Then I entered a mogul competition, I ended up winning my age group, along with a brand new pair of scratches. So I was thinkin, should I just use the scratches for next year and use the money for bindings and help to camp. Then my brother told me that Scratches SUCK all mountain. Please help my im confuzzled
