how the hell is a stock Independent front suspension Jeep good offroad? I lost my respect for Jeep when the liberty was introduced. No offense to anyone. Just after jeep has made such capable vehicles for years solid axles, I6 or v8's, then they come out with a v6, IFS mall cruiser, I just get pissed. But I guess they are just a smart company, they make products that 95% of their customers like not the 5% that actually take them offroad. sorry for the rant, the only new Jeep I would buy now would be a rubicon.
I actually really like jeeps, but they are money pits. My buddy and I did a lot of work on his old Wrangler. It was a beast for sure, but something else was breaking every other week. Tons of fun if you have the cash to keep them running.
And Liberty's aren't really Jeeps in the true sense. I wouldn't take one off road without HUGE alterations to suspension. Grand Cherokee's aren't really offroad vehicles either. My buddy just got a '79 CJ5 and we're putting a chevy 350 in it this fall. It's in very good shape as far as the frame and suspension go, but interior and wiring have to be replaced. Should be a lot of fun for off-roading when it's done.
i got a 96 land cruiser that still looks like a jeep. not the family suv that we are all used to. like a jeep basically. the millage sucks but it holds up better than jeeps cuz its toyota. and its got leather seets and all. its better than any jeep could be
I love this car man it has bee through so much with me and never once has it broken down or caused me any grief. makes me sad that I am selling it but its being replaced by a 2001 jeep so that makes me feel a little better.
Grand cherokees aren't offroad vehicles? Hmmm... well lets see they can have the same axles, motors and t-cases as tj's, and tj's are offroad vehicles and grands aren't? Well I acknowledge the new Grand the wk is a pos mall cruiser but the earliest grand the zj (1993-1998) and the next gen the wj (1999-2004) are very capable offroaders. Whats better than wheelin with a good stereo, sunroof and heated leather seats?
