Yes!!!! I've been waiting since grade 10 to here this news. The portfolio is no longer required to graduate but it can still count as 2 credits if it is completed. Man, I'm glad I have done nothing for the portfolio.
lol here in pennsylvania its required it freaking sucks i have to start it next year in my junior year with completion and presentation being in february of my senior year
