Who else has seen this movie? I watched it tonight, and didnt really know what to expect. It's got quite a cast, but i havent hear too much about it, which i thought was weird. After i watched it, i will say that it is a fuckin sick film, but probably the most realistic and pessimistic movie out there. If you havent seen it, you should.
its a bunch of different plot lines, but it has to do w/ different oil monopolies in this country and in the middle east and how effects these different characters. basically it shows the good and the bad on every side and how its easier for some to come out alright in the end, some of the good characters make it, and some of the bad, but either way it ends with the feeling that the world is not going to be alright.
Yea i rented it a little bit ago along with Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, and I have to say I didnt care for this movie at all. Too much stuff that had nothing to do with the essential plotline(kid dying in the pool). On the other hand, I loved Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. If you havent seen this movie definetely check it out. You wont be dissapointed. But hey, thats just my opinion.
syriana sucked. Just another anti-patriotic piece of doo doo so that everyone can jump on their bandwagon and pretend to feel smart and informed about something for 5 minutes.
ha ha ha. I'm partiotic to the United States of America, this is a truly great country... Just cause people question the government doesnt mean they are not patriots.
It was hard to follow because there were so many characters and so much stuff that wasnt related to the essential plot line. I never really understood who killed the prince with an aerial bomb at the end. It was the US that dropped the bomb but I thought it was the oil company who wanted the prince dead. Is the movie saying that the oil company was powerful enough to get the military to drop the bomb, or am I completly wrong about all of this?
i'm 16 and that movie fucked with my brain more than any intoxicant i have ever taken, it was good, but confused the hell out of me. its definately not for ppl of a lower iq
the kid dying in the pool had everything to do with the plot, in my opinion. It explained why the Princes wanted to buy out Matt Damon, and then how they became affiliated with him and brought him into the plot to overthrow the current regime, thus allowing Damon to become a higher up. Anyways
syriana was NOT a movie... it was another mock-u-mentary. It had no plot, a viewed like a cnn special on the middle east. Point of the film: oil controls and corrupts our modern world. Im sorry, please raise you hand if you didnt already know that the middle east was a mess of deception and behind-the-scenes illegal govenment/ terrorist interaction. The lines bewtween right and wrong are blured when oil is at stake. Sweet, thankyou Syriana. You just wasted 2 1/2 hours of my life telling me things i already knew.
It is a movie similar in style to many recent speudo-intellectual big-budget hollywood feel-gooders like 21Grams and Crash.
the Oscars, or the Academy Awards, as they are also known, are voted on by a members of "the academy" (actors and others invovled in film production). it is as popular as carrying a furry little dog in a louie vitton purse to make a non-narrative mock-u-mentary in hollywood today. Crash winning an oscar does in no way take away from my point.
