Can an x ray kill your sperm?

ok so i went to get an x ray the other day because i hurt my ankle(before when i hurt my leg or something they put a led bag overmy package)but this time they didnt put the bag on. dont ask y i am wondering(kinda embarising).

it's not exactly good. One x-ray probably won't kill your chances of having kids though.

no its because the xray can cause mutation of DNA in ur sex cells which would carry on to your offspring.. they dont care if u get it newhere else just not in ur sex cells cuz then it would be passed on

i had a bone scan and on the paper they make you read it says this is equal to 200 x-rays i was like.... great fix my legs and get cancer. they told me to chug as muhc water as i could cuz the radioactic shit they inject into you goes to your bladder and it could cause bladder cancer

i hate x rays. the nurse puts a little jacket on you, runs and hides in a closet, and then annouces on an intercom "caution, x ray in _____" and then every body else runs and hides in a closet.

thats because the nurses and doctors are exposed to the xrays everyday. and after a few years if they dont protect themselves they will all go bald and come down with radiation poisoning. but since you are not exposed to it everyday you are fine

that's not how it works. Radiation doesn't just kill the sperm, it kills your balls' ability to make it. Too much radiation and you'll be shooting blanks for good.

Ok, I've actually had to take a Radiation Safety Training course through EHS for my job in a research lab, and here are the facts:
1) Radiation is BAD.
2) We ALL get exposed to it everyday. Its called Solar Radiation.
3) A small amount of radiation IS ok. Our bodies have built in mechanisms in cells that detect when a cells DNA has been changed, and kill the cell before it can replicate and pass on the problem.
4) X-rays ARE radiaion. Early experiments with X-rays resulted it a lot of bad bad bad shit. People also used to drink irradiated water because they thought it 'restored your potency and vigor'.
5) Modern X-rays produce only a few millirem's (1/1000 of a rem) of radiation. People can safely have about 5 rems of radiation a year. So, if you have about 50 x-rays, it might be a little unsafe. Thats why doctors wear lead sheilds, because they're around X-rays everyday. You are not.
A dangerous amount of radiation is considered anything over 250 rems annually for humans. The average population in the US has an average dose of only 360 millirems. X-rays will not kill your balls, or lower your sperms count, unless you get your balls directly X-rayed over 50 times in one year. If someones X-raying your ankle, the beta particles cant even travel that far in the air to hit your sac. So no, you will not get cancer in your balls and die. At least not from routine X-rays.
