i just realized this today, the stuff they use to cover countertops with is PERFECT!! its like this thin plastic material (same as the top of a jacuzzi) its durable, meant to be outside and very slippery, the best are the ones that are meant to look like granite, but the key is not to buy the countertop. At homedepot, go to the counter-top section and their should be the raw sheets of the material hung up like carpet, (not attached to wood), their like 8x4 and you can easily cut it and place them back to back to make a box, you just need to use some high quality glue to attach the plastic sheet to plywood or something, the best part....the entire 8x4 piece is under $11!!!!
http://www.cuttingboardcompany.com/custom.asp put ypur measurments its made oh hdp whatever... and can bee as wide and long as u want up to ten feet a 6" by 10' sheet is 54 dollars
Ok i think he is talking about laminate. I used this for my box because my dad owns a home remodeling buisness and i get this shit for free. it looks good, and slides well, but it chips easily.
so i just talked to the guy from homedepot and he said that laminant was like $76 for a 4x8 sheet! i thought it was like $12, was he write or did he mis-quote me?
alright, i used to today and it worked reall good. just make sure you mount it on a 2x4 or something casue itll snap real easy on you.o and it you land at like a 45° angle to it the edges will chip and slow you down but form today i found you dont just dig it. you kinda slow down and thats it
^dug into the ground. its only like 8 inches in tho so i i think im gunna make like 1 ft lateral suppors and dig those into the dround. hopefully thatll make it reallly sturdy
aight about to try this box with laminant for the first time, is their any way to make it slide better if its not slippery enough alone, will skateboard wax work?
