oi!
i switched from snowboarding to skiing this past winter. i spent most of my time in the park, but clearly i want to work on my technical skiing more and some pow. therefore i will be concentrating mainly on such next season.
i currenltly ride scratch pros as they were free. but what does everyone suggest i purchase for next season?
i am very little and very light and of course still learning! what does everyone think i should look into buying for my 06-07 season? so the real question...since i want to practice in both park and pow next season, is...for a learner, what are the best skis to learn on for such things...again im little. verly little. im 21 but im 95 lbs and 4'11.

the scarlets definitely look like a dope ski. The girls' Scratch BC comes in a 150 something i think and would have a similar effect..look into those!

my sister is 5'2 and about 115 i would guess. She rented those when we went out west and loved them. Her and i charged the mt that week and they deffinately worked for her. We also got in the park a bit and she said they were comfortable in their too. She wanted to buy them when we left thats how much she liked them but my dad reminded her she just bought new skis this year.

The Line Shadow would be a good pick for sure (as mentioned so many times already). If I were you, I'd go with the 152s since the sidecut is a bit wider than the 157s, which makes them a bit less prone to hooking up. I wouldn't bother skiing the invader minis simply because with the Shadows, you get a poplar wood core... and wood has good feel to it (insert lewd comment here).
For bindings, Sollys are good weightwise. If you're looking for reliability and durability, it'll be hard to beat the Rossi and Look bindings (Axial2 and PX series).

She's small though and doesn't need a super burly binding. Salomon S810s should do the job just fine.

I've seen quite a few 810s come back broken and sent off for warranty. Yeah, they're light but they can't take any kind of impact at all. The wings seem to get all loose and sloppy over time too. They're great bindings when they're new or for those who are just skiing recreationally, but for park skiing, I find that there are better choices.
DIN setting would be around 4 or 5 I'm guessing. So between a Solly 810 (range of 3-10) and a Rossi Axial2 (3.5-12), the Solly would be more ideal, but considering that progression is a goal, I would consider an Axial2. Or even better, if a Look P10 could be found, that would probably be a great binding to use.

this isnt the best suggestion but no ones mentioned it.. you could try to get your hands on last years dogens(white ones) they were pretty soft and not very durable at all but since you're small they might be alright for you. i think they were about 80 underfoot so they could probably handle some pow to. you could probably pick them up pretty cheap being last seasons. but then again i think id stay away from them lol
