can you bend you brakes

Is it possible to bend normal ski bindings to fit a fatter ski, will the brake brake?

I think it might. That's why you have to buy special breaks for wider skis.

yea you can, we had a set of Pocket rockets in the shop with the noremal saly brake, just had to heat the brake arms and they bend out easily.

i tried...and got it to work after many different operations and cuss words. only after your brakes stick out when you are clipped in and your skis dont stay together very well when you carry them on your shoulder. i would suggest just buying wide brakes...they aren't that expensive at all.

you can insert seperate brakes to the back piece of your bindings, or do you have to get a new back peice with wide brakes??

most bindings the brake is a separate entity... i got wide look brakes for $15 just take off the rear binding and they pretty much pop in/out

It's the same with Salomon brakes, you just buy the little metal U-shape brake itself... I don't remember how much mine cost, but it's cheap.

Leashes for Jibbing sounds like a bad bad bad idea...especially with all the prerelease probs you guys have all the time...bending is a bitch but can be done. Heat is your friend. I used an old aluminum ski pole cut off, then placed it around the brake for extra leverage while bending. Another option is to get a 1 inch extention welded on each side of the brake, I've done both bend and weld, niether one works as well as buying the new brake.

once you bend your breaks they will bend easily when you fall and they will get all fucked up

i bent out my brakes figuring if it didnt work i'd get the wide ones, but so far i've had no real problems. a bad runaway ski once that probably would've happened anyway.

Line bindings need a year to sort out some problems......if you like your knees I would wait. Good concept, it just needs some perfecting and they know it, it will get done.

i bent my salomon brakes on volkl g41s which is a pretty wide ski. They work fine, and you don't have to have half inch of brake sticking out on either side of your ski
