Canada/ War

My friend's mom just opened up a teaching store and she wanted to buy supplies from the states but the guy wouldn't trade with her cuz she's canadian and we're not involved in the war. If any of you Americans are like that and being rude to Canada that's really not fair cuz it was our govt's decision and not ours.

Also I went to USA at spring break and saw a few cars decorated with things like
'let's make Baghdad glow in the dark! Honk if you agree!'
and 'kill them all and let God sort them out!'
That really disgusted me. Maybe I'm wrong though and in that case sorry.

In the last winter olympics, the US womens hockey team, before the game, were stomping all over the Canadian flag and tearing it up, while the cameras were rolling and that was televised world wide. Nobody made a big deal and I think that was worse.Hmmmm..destroying a flag cuz you want to win a game or booing because you're against another countries war thats killing tons of people.Which one makes more sense ?

that is shitty about your friends mom. and yes there are some hardcore nationalists out there. but i think the thing that makes americans at canada is the constant insults towards our government and our people and the constant bitching about the shit we do. i like canadians, they are nice people, the only thing that bugs me is the insults of the US. can anyone see where i am coming from with this?

if you were referring to canadians not being across the ocean, you better check your maps. and anyway, that wasnt the reason. The US stayed out of the war at the beginning of both wars (most of the 1st, troops didnt hit france until late 1917/early 1918) to make a profit by selling arms and supplies. This is one reason the country is where it is today, by having profited off staying out of war.

i don't see how the US joining the war late has any relevence. They didn't want any trouble, it wasn't affecting them and they made money off it. They didn't join until it affected them. So what you are saying is that you want the US to mind their own business and shit until you are gettin your asses kicked(the french, not really directed towards canadians) and then want us to join in and you get all buddy buddy. plus the war finally effected the US when the japanese bombed pearl. and in ww1 when the german uboats hit supply ships.

We had no problem with the US that didn't engage in things 'until it affected them' (as you described WWI) and retaliated when they were attacked as in Pearl Harbor, it's the US since then that has made a business of starting wars left right and center largely in situations that didn't affect the US at all (except maybe their economic interests) that really gets us. Not to mention the fact that more often than not the US has been fighting against forces that they either directly or indirectly supplied with weapons at the benefit of the US economy.
