For all you damn anti-war bastards, the 63rd medical company has found chemical agents in iraq, not yet delivery systems, but they are there. Thus, Saddam was in violation of 1441, making this war just on yet another front.

Reports also began circulating Monday that U.S. soldiers had found suspicious materials that could be chemical weapons. In the most significant of those, soldiers from the Army's 101st Airborne Division found barrels of suspected nerve agents at a site about 10 miles east of Karbala.

An Army colonel there described the facility as a paramilitary training installation with an obstacle course and a shooting range. Members of an antitank unit happened upon the site, about 55 miles south of Baghdad, during a mission to secure a nearby bridge. After barrels containing unknown substances were discovered at the site, an initial test indicated the presence of toxic chemicals, possibly weapons. A second test showed them to be pesticides of some sort. Then, a mobile chemical-weapons system was dispatched, and it recorded a positive for a nerve agent, possibly VX.

Separately, soldiers just north of Karbala found a big warehouse near an airfield with well over 500 artillery shells, many with hollow tips, possibly indicating that they are chemical-weapons delivery munitions. One of the shells was dated 2001. Earlier, the U.S. has made other, repeated discoveries suggesting that Iraq was preparing to use forbidden weapons, such as huge stockpiles of gas masks, protective suits and nerve-agent antidotes.


so maybe it was pesticides after all... pesticides that tested positive for vx, and were housed at a 'paramilitary' site... or maybe the agricultral compound you were thinking of was the big warehouse that was mentioned... i know that they grow mushrooms in warehouses.. ya know, big warehouses filled with manure and stuff, cause they can keep it damp and dark. thats probably the 'agricultral' site you ment huh...

KARBALA, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. troops were testing suspicious materials as possible chemical weapons agents at an agricultural complex in central Iraq, U.S. military officials said Monday.

Samples of the materials are being studied, and no conclusive determination has been made, said Brig. Gen. Benjamin Freakly of the Army's 101st Airborne Division. The materials, stored in barrels and buried, had not been weaponized and might simply be pesticides, Freakly said.

On Friday, elements of the 101st Airborne Division visited two sites in an area south of Baghdad near Karbala. One site had been used for military training and the other as an agricultural compound.

At the military camp, tests found no conclusive evidence of chemical weapons being present. In fact, tests there indicated pesticides were likely present, Freakly said.

At the agricultural compound, the division found 10 25-gallon drums and three 55-gallon drums buried within bunkers 4 to 6 feet deep, Freakly said. The 63rd Medical Company tested substances found in the drums to see whether chemical agents were present. Initial tests proved inconclusive, he said.

just a little tidbit of information. The baath party (of which ran iraq and that Saddam is the leader of) was actually an offshoot of WWII. After Frances surrender to Germany the Nazi party took over Syria and Lebanon placing gov't similar to that of Germany in control. Before it was all said and done those countries had taken over Iraq and put the Baath party into power. The leadership party in IRAQ is a DIRECT offshoot of the Third Reich of the 1930's. wow. this is rediculous. bush is nothing like hitler, no matter how bad you might think bush is, he did not gas millions of people because of their religion...where as saddam has (if not millions than hundreds of thousands). He deserves to go.

That's about 0.1% of what the U.S. was telling the rest of the world what Iraq had.

but you're right, they didn't have scuds and didn't shoot them off at the begining of the war. They are in blant violation of 1441, get over it. They had to make a SECOND declairation, that right there should tell you that they lied in the first one, which put them in material breach of 1441.

Whoever mentioned gassing a whole town,that was done w/ chemicals they bought from the US.Also what do you think the US government did at Waco?The US gov. gassed and burnt to death Americans, women & children.So they used it on there own citizens just like you claim Saddam did. how the fuck are they war criminals and terrorists? they were defending their country from an invading army. at the very most they were prisoners of war and should have been repatriated long ago. and also it is so hypocritical of the US to decrie war criminals since it is a long standing policy of the US that its soldiers cannot be tried for war criminals no matter what they do.

that was Al Qaeda, not the Taliban. the vast majority of the people held at Guantanamo bay are members of the Afghani army and all they were doing was defending their country from an invading force or is that a terrorist action now? if the US invades a country should everyone in that country just realize that the US is always right and start fighting for them?
