yay its spring. The time when the park landings are soft, the pipe is never icy, and u can ski in a T-shirt. BUT...it also means slushy wet snow. I don't know about the rest of u, but I have trouble getting speed up to clear jumps when the snows all slushy and chopped up. and tips?

start higher up the hill and bomb strait down, also lean back in your skis so the front dont stick in the slush

jump around alot and pray to the slush gods. Also sacrificing small animals will help.

warm weather wax works for 2 or 3 runs in wet snow. lean far back or if your just hittin jumps in the park put soap on your bases. you'll slide like a maniac for one run then you gotta squirt more on. make sure to wax your skis soon though, your bases are gonna be dryer then ever before and if you don't fix it quick then you'll rail your skis.

WD-40 on the bottom, only if your skis are complete shit, you can spray WD40 on the top of the ski so that snow will slid off, but it might get on your coat when you carry them

Ski-hobo's correct. Get some flouro wax in the right temp. and hotwax every night before you go skiing. Its no big deal, just get your self an iron {one for ironing clothes like your mom uses} from a second hand store for about 2$ or go to a cheap department store and get the cheapest one w/ a temp. setting should be 15$-20$.Get a metal scraper.Put skis on a table or bench w/ something thicker than the height of your binding{a shoebox or something}under the tips+ tails, bases up so your skis sit flat.Plug in iron on low heat so the wax melts but doesn't smoke.Hold iron above ski w/ pointed end, pointed at the base, press wax against bottom of iron and watch wax drip off of the point onto your base.Go tip to tail dripping wax till there's enough that when you iron it into the base ,the iron won't touch the actual base material, but just remelt the wax in an even coat covering the entire base. When your ironing always keep it moving so you dont over heat any one area of your base or you'll fuck up your ski.Let wax completely cool till it's hard and then scrape off,tip to tail w/ scraper. You can stop there or you can structure the base by brushing it w/ a nylon brush or a 3M pad. Done.Once you figure this out ,you will be FAST, always.

thats what you should do all the time.
BUT When spring comes along take them to a shop or you can buy a hand structure but its cheaper to take it to a shop that knows what its doing and tell them you want a deep coarse structure on your skis then go and do the waxing as stated above. The difference will be night and day.
Just remember to take your skis before next season and have that deep coarse structure removed and replace with a normal cross pattern .001 fine to medium structure or else it will be a bitch to turn your skis.
PS use a flat iron (the ones without holes on the bottom) if possible to wax your skis. The wax dosnt get in the holes and you get a better constant temp. (the ones with holes in the bottom work fine to)

zardoz or Swix F4 works well in the warm weather. They are both rub on, so you do not need an iron.

if you want to try give your bases a good brushing a lot while you are out on the hill. the reason you go slow is becuase your bases suction down to the snow thanks to the water on top ( like 2 pieces of glass when you drop water on and stick them together) the key is to have many grooves for the water to flow through

carry a can of wd-40 around w/you and spray it on the bottom of your skis. they'll turn black when you get home so make sure to clean them w/base cleaner and rewax them when you get home. wax works by instantly melting snow to create a thin layer of water under your ski that you're essentially sliding on (b/c snow's obviously faster). wd-40 does the same trick for warmer weather...the reason you go so slow in slush is b/c of the different consistencies on the bottom of your skis.
