What other resort has an open gate BC policy, 4100' vertical drop (lift served), and is as sick as JH? Maybe Whistler. What you save in pass money other places, you pay for in rent in the end. If you aren't willing to shell out your money for a Jackson Hole season pass (considering you would use it), maybe you should take up curling as a winter sport.
there are plenty of places that have a more expensive pass, but not many of them have a open bc policy. Its a sweet resort and i wish i could ride there
Deer Valley actually has some pretty decent riding...and since everyone who skis there sticks to the groomers, the goods are usually good.
One of the reasons Jackson can charge as much as it does for a pass is because there is not much competition in the area... there is basically Jackson and Targhee. But seriously, you should in no way be complaining about what you are getting to ride for that amount of money. Think of places like Stratton (and no, I am not saying Stratton sucks - it's my home mountain) that charge more than Jackson for a season's pass to ride the small, flat, ice coast.
a surface lift from the bottom of rendezvous bowl accesible by sublette quad. they are also increasing the ridding capacity of all chairs so lines wont be as long and things should be able to flow better
Uhhh, Kicking Horse, for one. With a fast gonola that takes you straight to the top. Now that the tram is gone in Jackson there's gonna be a lot more fucking around to get to the backcountry.
And if you think Jackson is great (which it can be when conditions are right, but GOD that endless sidestepping traverse out of Granite Canyon), you really need to try Europe or Las Lenas in Argentina. Most good Euro resorts make Jackson look like a bunny hill.
And I'd have to say that Silverton is better than Jackson and Telluride's backcountry is waaay better. Much less tracked out, and with a nice fast downhill exit on an old mining road. None of that fucking sidehill shit.
And you don't really spend the $$ you save on passes in other places on rent "in the end." The cost of living in Jackson is the same as other ski towns, especially if you want to live in Teton Village, next to the lifts. No matter how you cut it, Jackson's pass is one of the most expensive in North America.
regardless of the tram being there or not, you can still access countless other backcountry areas. The headwall, rock springs, cody bowl, four pines, the crags, granite, casper bowl. All the tram allowed you to do was to go out of the top gate to access rocksprings area easyer with no hiking what so ever. You can still access rocksprings and all those areas from the sublette quad with little to no hiking at all.
thank you man...some of u are naming all of thesep laces that may have more expensive passes but id just like to say are you sure about that? im not gunna take the time to check the price for all the places that have been named but jacksons is fuckin expensive $1600-2000 i think depending when u buy it...that costs alot more then alot of peoples cars...and jackson doesnt even have a logn season! ur paying that much for 4 fuckin months shit thats almost as much as rent...i think there doin it cuz there arn't really any other options in the area(cept for targhee) which makes it all the more wack.they should be lookin to make there money off of tourists not the locals who buy passes who are the lifeblood of the resort
