what do you like more? and give an explanation too. i like rails more cause i like the technical shit you can do, dont get me wrong i love huge fuckin 180s as much as the next dude but, jea.
sliding a rail nice and smooth is probably one of the better feelings out there, but i still prefer to be in the air. i just keep my shit simple on rails. smooth, stylish, and that's that.
as for jumps, i find the feeling of progressing is so much more satisfying when you stomp that new trick you've been working on. i find it's so much more of a rush too. more sketchy, bigger bails, harder impact, but more glory in the end.
don't get me wrong, people bail hard on rails too, but they tend to be more the bone cracking type of bail as opposed to the bone smashing type (or at least in my experience)
another point is that i can find myself hitting a nice smooth jump alllll day long.. beautiful weather, soft snow, just a picture perfect day, whereas rails get boring to me after a short session, even if it's a perfect set up
jumps hands down, theres a feel i get when i take off the jump. The feeling of weightless-ness as you float to the landing, its just the best feeling int the world
they are almost the same for me. its about 55-45 in favor of jumps becauce i like the feel of weightlessness in the air and pretty much the same reason everyone else likes them too. rails are alot of fun becasue there are so many diffrent varieties of them and so many diffrent things to be done on them.
jumps, i wish they had a rope tow for them though. you don't have nearly as much going on in a jump run as a rail run.
i like rails a lot, but im a pussy on jumps and need to like them more. i appreciate good tricks on jumps a lot more than rails.
however one aspect that is being over looked is pipe. and pipe is the msot tech. i love that shit, takes forever to be a baller in the pipe. so much comfort is needed. and you definately expirience the worst falls in the pipe. there is such a little gap for error.
Iv fucked myself up worse on rails than I ever have on Jumps... But then again the last two seasons Iv been too injured to ski long before decent jumps get set up, ususaly due to drinking related incidents... Soo Its hard to say. I wish i could have been progressing with jumps like I have with rails though. THis seasonw ill be diffrent. I can feel it.
big ass lines > anything else.
they're just way more fun, for me anyways. the feeling i get when i turn two drops into one is the best feeling for me when i'm skiiing, and i love to follow it up with ripping through pow and off of more natural hits.
Definitely jumps lately even though I considered myself a very rail oriented skier for a while.
There is something magical about just getting your grab as soon as you get off the kicker and just flying. You feel like you are in a ski movie, and that is not replaceable.
Also, locking on to any landings, whether it's that 270 on to a rail or that 5 off a jump, then sticking it, is the best feeling ever.
when im at the mountain...or hill in my case...i like hitting the jumps as much as possible..1: i can set rails up in my back yard and 2: i like flying through the air ..ill admit that yes, it feels great to perfectley slide a rail.. but i would much rather fly 60 feet
i think BC booters are the most fun thing to do on skis. I could be perfectly happy hitting jumps in the backcountry for the rest of my life. Powder and air is where it's at.
even though rails are coming up more and more jumps seem to be more fun.....whoever thinks that there is more u can do on rail they are wrong u might be able to throw stuff into a smallrail and make the title butter lipside270 260switchup to lincohn off but u can still throw shiftys grabs and tons of other shiot into jumps plus a big jump will get my attention more then a big rail shot
^ some of us Eastcoasters don't get that kind of powder love... I loved rails 2 seasons ago, then jumps this past season... I think I am still in jump mode, you need snow to build a big jump, and that is what I want right now...
