i need some tips... my pipe skiing sucks. my main queries are to do with the pop, because i either land hard on the deck or waaay too low in the transition. any positive criticism would be greatly appreciated
erhm..well so if u are about to pop on the right wall for example try to come up with your upper body but wait til the last moment than u also can keep your right arm ( if its the right wall) infront your body makes it easier for u to turn..sorry that probably wasnt the best tip
check out the pipe ahead of time, know the over hang, it'll help you decipher the sort of pop you need. If its not as vertical, and slants more toward the deck, pop a lil to get the feel of it and adjust accordingly. If it's vertical, like 90 degrees, don't pop. You'll push off the wall too much. Finaally make sure ur carving into the wall properly. You want to travel down the pipe, but get some proper altitude by really carving up the wall as straight (prependicular as possible).
I wasn't sure how basic you needed. If you're smart and know that awesome if not, hope you learned something .
Sharpen youe edges like racing skis for pipe. Most pipes ( the one in tremblant, and Avila...Avila is better BTW) are crazy icy. Most of the time they will rarly drag the pipe dragon soo beaware.
If your serious about pipe, and getting air in it, your going to fall ....ALOT. Get some speed going into the pipe and pump into the pipe. I would sugest to do close turns in the pipe, or else your gonna get MAD speed, and die.
Depending on the pipe, your gonna have to pop at different places. Your first time your not going to even make it over the lip ( if it is a 16 ft tall/more pipe). I would have to say, go out and ride it every day, cause it is NUTS. Pipe is my crack. You will bearly want to go into the park because of the pipe.
ok......well gravity in the pipe is fucked up. Your body is going up in the air, and sideways, so just try to learn how to ride in those conditions. For your first ride into the pipe just concentrate on the drop in, turning up and down the wall, and controling your speed.
When you have riden pipe long enough that you start going over the lip, it is like your body does it on its own (sort of like when you cross it up,your skis uncross just at the perfect time). You could go up and down the wall and do little 180s, but your not going to learn anything.
