yeh at first i am going to admit i was REALLY sceptical on the whole idea of nike comming into the industry...but i heard that there shit is actually pretty siick...i wont be wearing it...to expensive...but still siick none the less.
People were very skeptical of Nike getting into skateboarding(again) and good things came out of that, from the bottom up, grassroots style almost(even tho it was just a maketing ploy). The shoes they make are sick, are involved in good aspects of skating, and have a solid team.
my friend tucker perkins is sponsored by them, and he had some sick stuff this year, im definately thinking about buying some of their stuff, its really nice, and it looks good too.
Nike has been in europe for years with nike acg, go to www.nikeacg.com and click on EUROPE to see their stuff and the team and stuff, its a pretty cool site with vids and stuff
kill nike.
all that comes out of nike owning the world is that smaller, core companies like orage, and siver cartel get pushed out of the way by mass marketing power.
dont help buy out companies that actually care about skiing, and not just the money.
if by "core sports" you mean targetting any and every individual that longs for a "young and hip" life, then yes, I'd agree with you.
Visit one of Oakley's Retail stores, view the people that walk in for a period of like, 15 minutes, and then tell me if they are exclusively for "core sports".
