Hey,i have been doing more and more BC and just got some prophet 130s. I have looks, use them....and in the BC i find that i want something that holds better, and does not pivot like the old looks/rossi do.
I am looking for something in the salomon.....tyrolia range. I don't know what model specificly. I am 6'1 185 pounds, and i can ride pretty well. Plus i know i am gonna have to mount these beasts my self, and i know no ski brakes.

Any binding that goes up to a 16 din would work fine.

Fritschi Diamir Freerides....if your gunna keep doing lots of backcountry go for the freerides, they tour, and they can do everything else amazingly..

he said he is looking for something with better retention than a Look Pivot, a freeride isn't what he's looking for. And besides imagine trying to lay over a 130mm waist ski with the lack of torsional rigidity of the fritsches, it would be a nightmare.
You want Salomon S914s or if you don't mind the weight S916s, either one can come with a brake that is fairly easily bent to fit the 130.

i hate salomon bindings i got s912 ti's and i did a 360 over a 45 foot jump and the titanium ripped in half... im only 126 pounds also... i didnt like them very much after that seein i couldnt ski the rest of the season

firstly, your shop should have replaced them for you, and you should have been back out on the hill in a week or less. second, the titanium heel tray in salomons is notorious for that. salomon said everyone has been mounting them wrong for the past 5 years, but i say go for the 914, which has a steel tray in the heel, so its stronger than the 810 or 912.

hmmm when the s912ti's first came out i raced slalom with them (yes i raced) and they were golden, when i was done racing i moved them to my 1080's and they are golden there too. never had any problem.
to the creator of the thread: do what everyone else has said go for some 916's or something close to that i've heard nothing but good things about them.

I've had issues with my s912's. They definently are not the most durable binding, and the plastic on them is completely fucked. Also, even though I have the 1080 boot and have sent them in to be re-fit two times, the toes still slide around a few millimeters. I'm definently going to try Look or another company for my new skis in the fall and leave my old s912's on my crap skis, where they belong.

Salomon bindings become great bindings once they become s914/lab or higher. s912 and below are just trash, from personal expierence and first hand accounts. Warrant your trashing, with a little knowledge too people!

if you are becoming serous about bc i highly recomend getting a at binding. You will need a freeride class especially if you plan to drop some cliffs.
If your set on locked heel bindings id say the look px14 will be more than enough. You could go to the 16 but i dont think you need it.

Already done.....plus some Snow Pit/Avalanche training. Nah.....Look/Rossi are GREAT in the park. i have the Rossi Power 120s and they are just magic. They unlock when i need them too, and stick when they have to.
But when i am dropping cliffs, of just riding the BC overall, i need something that is gonna stay locked on my feet. I want them to release.....but i want them to be locked on more. I don't want to huck a cliff and see my skis come off. Yeah i think i am gonna go get me some some S916s. If i can get the brakes, i will put them on, but if not its ok, then i will just leash it up.
And i know i am gonna have to mount these beasts up, or bring them into my local shop just for fun. i currently live in Northern Ontario, soo i am pretty sure they have never seen anything that big.

ha, touring with the prophet 130s. that will be a....challenge. dont get these. their awsome for somethings, but this is not one of those things.
i would suggest just like the countless others here the s916. theyve been proven to be a extremely reliable binding and their just built well. also the s914s are pretty good as well, although the quality of the bindings just climbs as the din climbs. the s916s will be your best bet for salomon.
4frnt also makes a pretty good high end binding. i know vicious mounted their highest din binding on his ANTs and liked em. if i remember correct he said they felt like the high end salomons. and he said he really liked em, which is always a plus. cant remember the exact name and im to lazy to look it up, but i think they go up to 16 for the din. great bindings from what iv heard. also have a lockout function if i remember correctly which essentially locks out your toe piece to prevent unneccesary releases when you come in strong in the backseat. nifty touch, and it sounds really nice, considering i tend to land in the backseat alot.
anyway, thats me extent of binding alpine binding knowledge. if you were a real man youd tele and not have to worry about releasing, but hey, we all cant be men right? haha and even though you said you didnt want rossi's or looks, tons of people have been impressed with the p18. very solid binding.

man i am WAY WAY tooo lazy for tele man. Tryed it once......its like doing moguls all day while your riding.
I fell apart, i just want something that is gonna float extreamly well in the pow. I have been throwing some 180 and stuff in the pow, and lets just say the Volkl Karmas that the rental gave me did not give me that much confidence in riding switch in the pow. Soo i am gonna get these huge bitches.

dunno what you mean about falling apart, but whatev. and in no way shape or form am i raggin on the 130s. i think theyre one of the greatest ski inventions in the freestyle age. as pollard said on his website they give you the ability to really ski normally in pow. you usually have to change your skiing and where you shift your weight to on normally shaped skis, but the 130s are so fat, you dont have to re-arrange your weight. i was just saying, touring....ha. its gonna suck. but sounds like you dont, so shoot for some of these good bindings mentioned on here. all of these here are great bindings, you cant go wrong.
