Am I fucked?

So I was trying to get back to my house yesterday on a freeway where the flow of traffic is always around 85 but the speed limit is 65. I was real tired and wanted to get home because the air conditioning in my car sucks and I was roasting. The freeway was completely empty and its one that I've driven on hundreds of times before and neer seen a cop on, so I started playing some Dick Dale and hit around 140. All of a sudden FUUUUUCCKKK! I see a cruiser hiding in the bushes and press down hard on the brakes. He clocked me going around 97, which is lucky in a way but not really (If I had kept up my speed I probably could have gotten away). What are my options here? Do I even have any? Anyone who has gotten a ticket here in California know what kind of price I'm going to have to pay? He only got me for the speeding violation but will the court try and charge me with reckless driving too or is that something the officer has to do? I'm 17 so am I eligible for traffic school. Is there any way really out of a 32 mile over the speed limit ticket? God damn I feel like a fucking dumbass. Any help from the wise NS community is much appreciated. I wish I had a fucking autobahn.

if the officer didn't ticket you with reckless driving, you won't get reckless driving. Which is lucky, because for 30 over, officers tend to hand out reckless driving tickets like candy.

when i lived in cali, any thing like that will be harsh on you sorry brah. to answer your question you are fuked. and dude they wont chase your car in cali no more after the failed chases, so drive fast past him until he starts coming out of the bushes then turn your lights off, stop, and stay in the bushes hell roll on past you

Go to the court date they set admit to speeding and hopefully the magistrate will knock off 10 or so mph’s, or hope the cop doesn’t show up. When I fought my last ticket the magistrate knocked 20 mph’s off a kid’s ticket that got clocked going over 100.

i would recommend that you hire a lawyer. two of my friends got speeding tickets and one got it dropped (he was only going 16 over) and the other got it brought down to like a fine for not stopping at a stop sign and it was like 30 bucks, no points (he was going 25 over). i dont know if they will be able to do that much for you but a 17 year old going 30+ over might be eligible for suspended liscence. a lawyer would be well worth it

the letter things seems kind of weak to me, but my parents suggested that to me when i got busted. i didn't do it and hired a lawyer who helped (bigger than traffic court though). try this http://forum.freeadvice.com/ not sure if they have a traffic section but it helped awnser some of my questions before.

a lawyer could end up more expensive than the fucking ticket. I've gotten a lawyer before to try to avoid probation for some bullshit assault and battery offense. The lawyer didn't do shit and it ran us like 800 dollars for the asshole. It's my first offense and I think I'll be fine. This is a road where people get 110mph tickets on a regular basis. Everyone in this fucking country is always trying to screw you one way or another. That's why I'm moving to Costa Rica and chill with my easy going Central American friends. Speeding ticket there would be "hey man you were going a little bit fast. That will be 20 dollars." just hand over the money and go.

I can deal with that. Thats like a week of work for me, fucking sucks, but its not the end of the world. I should still have enough for my Mik Ds. If I don't, I'll leave that judge with another head cavity.

Yes you can, this is the 00 V6 Honda Accord LX. I doubt the 4 cylinder can make it but this one can. Hell I can even get the Toyota Sequoia SUV up to 105, I'm sure a smaller, faster, more aerodynamic car can make it 35 faster.

I got a 31 mph over the speed limit in washington. It was just a huge speeding ticket, not reckless driving. It's like 150 bucks there. I don't know if that's close to california or not.

find a lawyer, get it reduced to a nonmoving violation, youll be fine. thats what ive done for all mine, i had like 4. all my parents friends are reknowned lawyers in central new york so its easy for me but i assume u can find a decent lawyer.

lawyers are expensive but if he can get it dropped down some (which usually a lawyer can do) i think it would be worth what you're going to have to pay for insurance. a 17 year old getting a ticket doing 100 will make your insurance skyrocket. you prolly wont even be able to afford to drive. it goes far beyond the 200 dollar ticket you will get

The new V6 accords have enough power to do 140, but I have my doubts about whether or not that car is electronically limited.

I can get my SHO to 143, that's redline in 4th gear. Talk about breathing hard, you need a REAL engine to get above 120.

what's the big deal I don't get it? I got pulled over goin 58 in a 20. First of all technically the driving to endanger thing or whatever is when you are doubling the speed limit. The officer has to charge you with it because he is the only one there to determine whether or not you were endangering anyone so if he didn't already then just suck it up, pay the money, and get outta there. I paid $380 for my ticket, why don't you just pay it instead of goin to court? I didn't have any interest in telling a judge I was almost tripling the speed limit. But yea why don't you just pay it?

wow what a boner I though we in MA had the same driving laws as you guys... guess not. Either way I'd show up with the check and try to make it as quick and painless as possible. Here the cops either lose the ticket, forget to file it, or don't show up to court so if that happens you'd be golden but if not I wouldn't put up a fight.

That is the way Latin America works and at the same time why it does not work. Central and South America have so much potential. I would only move to Costa Rica to surf almost everyday. The continuing American influence and influx of American investors could prove very good for the country. You would be surprised how many American people live in Costa Rica because they are tired of being robbed of their pay by the IRS. Its leftist scum that won't allow us to revamp the tax system here in the United States. I went to prom with a girl whose father makes more money working as a firefighter for the state than my father does working as a self-employed dentist. They live in one of the most affluent gated communities in the bay area. Why the fuck should a firefighter chief be paid more than someone who spent 12 gruesome years in USC? When my father retires he won't get shit, the firefighter will retire on a nice pension of 3/4 of his previous salary. My family is being robbed to pay for bullshit like that. Pensions need to be eliminated completely. Fuck the public sector, they screw the American public out of our money. Fuck the welfare state. Fuck pointless social programs that are used to scam money out of the government revenue.

Where do you usually surf at down there? It seems almost more crowded then the u.s. now. You complain about money, yet your dad spent 12 years at USC. Maybe he should have went to a public school to half his costs. Your dad could have a better retirement for himself if he saved money and made a more profitable business. Of course a firefighter chief in a major area is going to get a large sum of money, same as other people in non government sectors. Even people working in union jobs for things like automakers can make 6 figures, with no school, a good pension, with over 20 years on the job. You need to formulate your own decisions instead of just accepting your parents heavily conservative views.

well since you are in california i would be more worried about how many points against ur liscence that is rather than the price. but it would be rather expensive. anyways, here is how to attack a radar gun in court.

ask the cop when the radar gun was last callibrated. if he cant answer, than the evidence is not viable. if he can answer, than you can do something like ask the cop for proof. i don't remember, but im sure you could look it up

your not that fucked. i got a ticket for 37 over and kept my license and i paid $0 for the ticket itself (my lawyer cost $700ish). first thing you should do is get yourself a lawyer and i didnt read the tread really but im assuming you have a court date and not just a fine if you were going that fast. get your lawyer before you ever walk into court because the judge will own your ass. i saw somebody said try to get the cop to mess up if he testifies, dotn fuckign bother, if anythign the judge will just get annoyed if you ask bullshit questions you dotn understand about the radar gun. let your lawyer speak for you in court unless you are directly adressed. dress nicely and be polite. shower before you go to court. basically all you need to do is hire a lawyer and hope for the best. and it is worth it cuz if he gets the ticket down it will save you so much on insurance that its worth it. damn it you kids need to stop getting huge tickets, if you wanna speed like that get a radar detector

one thing you could try is questioning the last time the radar gun was calabrated. my friend did this when he got pulled over doing 95 in a 65 and they dropped his ticket to 75 in a 65 which wasnt half as bad

I heard cops have radar detector detectors. I don't know if that made sense but they can sense radar detectors and pull you over for having one. I don't believe you can get a ticket for having one but they have the right to comfiscate it
