60 bucks WTF need help

Ok so here it the story

Me and this kid (on ns)decided to make a trade he would give me his siver Jaket for my computer program so its all good rite and we both send our stuff out on monday. Well 10 min ago i realise that a guy from ups came with the jacket and i have to pay 58$ for some gay tax or some shit (sent from NY) not being sure if i ordered a jacket she tells the guy to come tommorow. What do i do i dont wanna pay an extra 60 bucks for a trade i already made. what should i tell the ups guy or what could me and this guy do to get the tax price to be lower. I think for the value he wrote 100$
is there anything we could due to get the tax shit low? this is just gay (not blaming sender prolly not his fault just wanna get a solution)

IF he shipped via USPS or Canada Post you can argue the assessed value and get it lowered.

I dont think you can with UPS because they charge a base fee of $30 for bringing ANYTHING across the boarder, then there are the normal customsfees that you MIGHT be able to knock down a little.

But the $30 brokerage fee is there for good.

once it's been shipped and taken across the border i dont think theres much you can do.

i'm about to go pick up some stuff shipped to me via ups. from the states. i'm kinda scared now...

UPS fucks you.

Ship via USPS or Canada Post and the fees are way less and if they are high you have a much better chance at fighting them and getting them knocked down

UPS will still charge you the brokerage fee of 30bucks at least.

my dad got pissed and told the ups guy to take it back so now we are discussing how to send it without getting stuch with another gay ass fee

shit you guys are making me nervous... I have 2 pairs of skis on the way from mammoth, and like 600$ worth of golf stuff from Florida. I dont know what I will do if the customs is insane

wow well I went to pick up my stuff.... and guess what? no fees whatosever!!! a longboard valued at $250... no customs. and yes it was shipped ups. must be my lucky day!

also a few weeks ago I got skis and bindings shipped from the states and didnt have to pay customs, but i'm not sure if it was ups or not.
