on the official summer setup thread (yeah this could probably go on there, but a separate thread will hopefully recieve a better response) it says lexan is the best material to make a box. i scoped it out at home depot and its like 75 bucks for a 3'x6' sheet. in the same rack as the lexan sheets are acrylic sheets same size for like 35 bucks. they look and feel the same. im guessing the price difference is due to quality difference but is anybody familiar enough with both to know how much of a difference? could you easily get by with just using acrylic or is it gonna break or shatter after its been used a few times?
The acrylic plastic is probably to soft and you'll catch edges. Lexan is expensive so I'd leave that stuff for the resorts. Try looking for H.D.P.E. (plastic retailer) or puckboard (hockey equipment company).
Nope acrylic sheet will not work i had it on my box in the backyard and it cracked, i had a party once and this big kid was sitting on my box like it waas a chair, and when i look at my box in the morning the sheet was cracked i was pissed
thats from when it was finished and before i used it....i used it like 30 days....whenever there was enough snow. i havnt had time to set up a summer set up yet. they are some metal poles my dad found in my grandfathers backyard! ahah. ill go take some pics of where it is set up now and post them later
