My buddies and i are gonna make one tomorrow and shoot some stuff. Ive wanted to do it for a while, but now i think that im a little older and wiser itll work damn good. i found some plans online that look simple enough and it says it should work well.
Anyone have experience and plans on how to make an easy and sick launcher?
THANKS!

I've only launched a buddies, never built. Thing launched. AquaNet hairspray and red mini potatoes work best together. BIC butane windproof lighter is best for the ignition.

ya make sure you have a big enough barrel that shoots big whole potatoes, non of those shitty ass little pieces. also get a fairly good size chamber and glue it very good and strong so it doesnt fly off and brake your leg or take off your head.
i usually use hairspray that works the best.
have funn!

Make it so it can fit tennis balls.
Me and my buddy made one it was this shit.
Funny story one time he was showing it off to a bunch of people and so he didnt want to point the barrel at them so, he fliped it around kind of weird so that the bottom was facing the ground and the barrel was facing his belly. Well he actually dropped it and the ignitor hit the ground and sent a tennis ball into his stomach at about 6 inces. He couldent streach out for a week and he had to sleep in a little ball. Not to mention the bruise on his belly was fucking intence looked like a bulls eye of black blue white and a vainey red.

one of my friends made one of the big four inch PVC potato launchers last year. We were so pumped to try this thing that we left school and went to his house during lunch to test it. The igniter wasn't working, and we thought the problem was that we didn't use enough hairspray. So we kept adding more hairspray until we had about twelve times too much when it finally ignited. We just watched the potato soar up out of his backyard and over his neighbors' houses and out of sight. Then we decided to go back inside before somebody called the police.

It is all about getting the spray to air ratios right. about a 2-3 second spray is ample. Any more and it is not as good. The one I have used was an orange gun, and you would kill someone if you hit them point blnak with it.

Buy a barbeque igniter at home depot. Drill some holes into the side of the ignition chamber and then tap in some nails long enough so they are about 1mm away from touching tip to tip in the center of the chamber. Then attach each wire from the igniter to a nail and voila! A remote igniter for $15.
My combustion chamber one worked great, but it had a screw on cap in the back that we used to fill with Right-Gaurd (a good fuel, also with a clean and fresh afterburn). This didnt work eventually, as the chamber would sometimes light itself on fire. The heat eventually melted the threads and we couldnt open the back of it, so we were fucked.
My experience with a air compressed one went much worse. We got a valve from a sprinkler system and used a bike pump and tire nozzle to try and make a compression chamber. Unfortunately, the glue we used didnt hold, and the back of the chamber ripped off when we were pumping it, right next to my ear (I thought I heard a leak - I was right). The endcap blew off, ricocheted off my dads leg (who was pumping it), bounced off our garage door and flew 150 feet out into my moms gardens. Compression certianly seems to have a lot more power; however, its much more dangerous (comparitively) and much more can go wrong (like the sprinkler valve - we werent sure it would even open quickly enough).
Give the combusion one a shot, those are quick and easy and a lot of fun. Also, watch out for PVC glue fumed, they are flammable (my friend toasted his eyebrows 'dry' firing our test chamber).

yes. exactly what he said. aquanet is most defnintely the best hairspray to use, and ..well yea.
haha our friends always take theirs down to OBX every year and we just shoot into the bay... no worries about hitting someone or something..
except last year when my dad stood out there with a bright yellow helmet and a lifejacket and we shot at him... came pretty friggen close to hitting him too.. haha

I've got one and we just newspaper wadding stuffed down the barrel. That way we can shoot anything small enough to fit down the barrel. Our next attempt will be shooting a fistfull of paintballs at my cousin. We'll see how that turns out.

I built one last week, Instead of using cheap glue, I bought this PVC expoxy stuff that if you put two pieces of pvc, and apply this to it and let it set, the peieces will phyiscally bond to create one big piece. I use hair spray and that works the best. Make sure you drill screws through the bottom of the barrel piece so the potato or whatever you are shooting doesnt fall down into the combustion chamber. I sharpened the top of the barrel, so when I put a potato in it carves it to the size of the barrel. Mine barrel is 4 1/2 feet long, so that baby boooms.

Right-Guard is the best fuel for it, the hair spray makes all that crap in the chamber really sticky, i have shot a 6 foot barrel one, it was crazy. We have a see-thru barrel for night time so you can see the giant flames roar up the barrel.

an alternative fuel source is acetone. one capful in the ignition changer works pretty good.
