Has anyone seen this movie? I would recomend gooing to see this because it connects the link between global warming and vereything thats happneing in the world right now. It was quite impressive.

A completely biased film from a guy that is still sour about losing an election. This is not a political issue, moments later he states "Maybe there's bigger threats than terrorists."

Look, humans contribute to an ever-increasing global weather change, but not to the degree Gore is trying to point out. All of his "truths" are based on theory and not research (or the research was done in the past 15 years). There is no possible way that we can divulge the past climate changes and past history of the earth. We can estimate based on depositis and ice layers, but there is no solid fact.

I just hate how he is trying to scare people into changing their lives instead of actually funding a research study.

Oh wait, Al Gore will make a Hollywood movie to make profit off of, but he won't set up an organization to help prevent his global warming issues? Hmm, that's kind of weird.

COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF. word up, that is exactly what I wanted to say. Any "facts" about global warming should be taken with a grain of salt, because most of these "studies" aren't very reliable, due to the fact that it is from such a short period compared to the length of the planet earths existance. I'm sick of all these conspiracy threads about global warming, it is getting sooooo old.

I saw it...it is what it is. Not an amazing movie and not a terrible movie.

I would however love to know why anyone would immediately dismiss global warming or the fact that we could all use a nice dose of social environmental responsibility. What reason do you have not to do everything that you can to reduce your impact on the world? Especially if you are a skier or into any outdoor sports...or if you just like being outside.

Well, in scientific theory (the kind in the movie) there is lots of research and facts to back it up. And what does it matter if they aren't his theories? Aren't theories from scientists more credible than a politician's theories?

Ok facts,
The facts aren't to be called facts, because evidently we have no past to base them off. I mean let's face it scientific facts often become fiction. No matter how advanced we think we are, the earth is something we can never accurately predict. All the research in the world will never prove that humans are the initial cause of a changing climate.

My point was I said they were his theories and I stated that they weren't his. I messed up that one.

and all i think his movie is trying to do is scare some sense in a society that is based off of comsumption and hardly worries about the consequences of the stuff they do everyday.

and considering the current weather trends i.e. abnormal winters and hurricane seasons, i wouldn't consider what he is trying to do a bad thing at all. it sure is drawing attention to the subject of global warming, and that's exactly what he is aiming for.

too bad global warming doesnt exist. the earht is goign through a natural climate change where some places get hotter, some become cooler, precipitaion will vary. you shouldnt believe what al gore says. even if hes super serial.

No, by that logic we can never officially predict CLIMATE facts. Nowhere in that statement did I say scientific facts were unreliable. I said the earth's climate pattern could not be predicted because we have such a small past to base it off of.

Oh and just gain a little profit on the way. The intentions of the film are good, but I strongly think an orginization would have been more effective than a Hollywood drama.

Based on the past what, 50 years? Woohoo, that's almost reliable. We have had warmer temperatures 10 years out of billions.

Yes, the subject is important. As I have said before, he is going about the solution the wrong way.

The reason why im not big on the global warmin thing is because the ppl who study it have done it for years and years so if they come to the conclusion ohh shit we r fine this is normal...then their entire lifes work was meaningless!!

Not to mention if they said tommorow ok the world will end in 20 years at the rate we r goin no one is goin to stop driving cars and using energy and smoking and littering so its futile n e way!!

its an opinionated film like michael moore films...but thats just what these films are all about..they are essays in film form. it doesnt make it less valid or more valid. less truthful or more truthful. it is an opinion-essay film.

i know many scientists have concluded that global warming is an issue, but just as many have concluded that global warming, while it is taking place, has nothing to do with our existence and is just a natural cycle of the earth. I read a book by Bill Bryson and he claimed that throughout time, the earth goes through natural cycles in which the earth warms and cools. This is part of our planet.

Seriously, when's the last time you read an academic journal where a scientist concluded global warming has nothing to do with our existence!!!?? You can't just say things like that, because IT'S NOT TRUE!

Wow, Bill Bryson said it's all down to natural cycles!? I'd better ignore all the proper research work I've read in the course of my degree then!

Whilst these type of films always hype things a little, if it manages to get through to people it can only be a good thing.

yeah, but at least for me, i can't take opionionated documentaries seriously because there's obviously another side to the issue. I feel less trusting of the opinions presented because they're deliberately not showing the other views.

the main proponet of global warming is the hot air coming out of Al Gore's ass. If Al Gore really cared about the enviroment then he would sop using his private jet and his convoy of SUVs to go all over the world. He is a hipocryt. He wants everyone to stop driving thier cars and SUV, but he doesnt have to. Al Gore needs to shut up, the earth goes through natural shifts of warming and cooling.

Our climate is getting warmer...slightly, however the catalyst of said warming undetermined.

Weather and climate are very difficult to predict because there are so many variables involved in its creation, gravity on the other hand is more or less definable by mathematical equations and is thus a quantifiable force. Yes, yes, i understand that gravity may an interdemensional force and is not yet completely understood by science but the point is there is no 'Butterfly Effect' in that context.

I'm really not an Al Gore fan, but i dont think hes made the movie just to generate revenue. He did it to get 'a word' not 'the word' out and make a serindipidus buck on the side.

Ultimatly people are lazy, they like to be entertained. Who wants to read a dry scientific study anyway? So he made a scare tactic movie to make those who see it feel simutaniously smarter and fearful...if it inspires positive change in the igorent then WOOOfukcinHOO, pat yourself on the back cause you saved us again Al. What would we do without you...

You should really know, there isn't always two equal sides to a debate. With the research that almost every scientist has come up with, they conclude that global warming is real and that humans are causing it/making it worse. They make their opinions based on lots of facts and research, and they show those facts and research to present their case. What's wrong with that?

im gonna say this, you are ignorant if you deny that humans are the biggest problem on the earth. the destroy habitats, environement, everything. humans ARE a disease that is plagueing the earth. do some research, seriously. it is not normal for the earth to have this much co2 and other pollutants. it is not normal for the earth to be this warm with so much climate shift. it is not normal for this rapid loss of biodiversity. the introduction of 4.5 billion destructive creatures in the past 100 years into the biosphere has profound and abnormal effects. you cant deny that humans have caused global warming and have elevated its effects tremendously. this is NOT A NORMAL OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL CYCLE IN THE EARTH'S WEATHER PATTERN. what are the chances that the earth's climate changes this much from the industrial revolution until now? its certainly not a natural change in the cycle because WHY would it happen right now out of 1 billion years? why would it happen just when we release millions of tons of pulloutants into the air?

oh and another thing, when scientists say the average temperate raised 3 degrees, that doesnt sound like a big deal. but what you may not know is that the average temperature has raised over 10 degrees in many areas. a slight shift in temps is enough to wipe out plenty of animals especially fish and sea plants. most of the photosynthesis on earth takes place from water plants. another thing is that drought from climate shift has caused the starvation of millions of africans. they are only alive because of outside aid. if humans didnt help humans, nature wouldve taken its course and id say that in the past 5 years there would be 200 million dead people

Let me state this again - When every expert in the world agrees on one thing (Global Warming) you should listen...

You ask for more reseasrch - Hey tard, the research has been done! EVERY SINGLE study supports what Gore is saying.

we are talking about 1000's of government and private funded research from top universities and acclaimed experts...and yet you want more reasearch?

You are no different than the Tabacco people saying more research is needed to support the "theory of lung cancer"

well, from what i can understand about global warming is this; the earth is getting warmer a lot faster than it ever has in the past. Maybe it would've happened anyway? Perhaps, but when you look at the delicate balance of the greenhouse effect and that fact that all the fossil fuels we burn every day produce C02 and CO2 increases the greenhouse effect, it's really not that unreasonable to think that we are causing global warming to occur on a scale that in unpresidented.

Secondly, what does this mean? Well we can guess at that. There's the polar ice cap thing, but it could be very well possible that we will cause global cooling over time, as the increased amounts of water (former ice) and heat will increase cloud cover and precipitation. It's anyone's guess really.

I think that it's too much of a coincidence that at the same time that we are burning so many fossil fuels, that the climate of earth is increasing. so many clues go to the fact the GW is occuring. Sea levels are already rising, glaciers are melting. if this rate keeps up than whole glaciers parks and the arctic caps will melt.

even if you don't belive this is happening, you should still contribute to making the world a cleaner place.

I for one hate people who drive hummers and cars that guzzle up way to much gas.

Maybe if you read my posts instead of disecting small amounts of them you would conclude what you just said is completely out of line.

Look buddy, nobody can prove me wrong that humans are the sole cause of global warming and that the world hasn't gone through changes like this because, frankly, we have been on this planet such a short amount of time to even begin to comprehend the complex web of climate change.

No doubt we are having an environmental impact, I already admitted that. Now you are just being flat out redundant in an issue to make me look dumb by twisting my words around. You aren't the first and won't be the last. EXACTLY WHAT I SAID, the effects ARE unknown. We have no idea what the climate will be, because we have almost never been right with it.

Remarks like mine smack of questioning. Remarks like yours smack of incapability.

The earth has been around a lot longer than a billion years.

i never denied human involvement in global warming. I deny the degree of which we make of it.

Who should really be doing the research here. The one who's using an opinion, or trying to prove someone else's opinion wrong?

How do we know what normal is. Normal out of the past say 100 years? 100 years out of a possible 100 billion?

Think about the earth for a second. All elements on earth came from hydrogen, carbon, and nitrogen. Is it possible that we could destroy the earth using the very substances it created?

I know that theory sounds ignorant, but try to understand it. I don't nessicarily belive it, I just like to think about it.

Yes, but there have been times when the entire earth was frozen, and the entire world was flooded. Temperature shifts happen all the time, "average" has been based of of maybe 20 years? I will continue saying this, there is not nessicarily proof in only 20 years of tests.

Billions of animals have become extinct over the years existance, and billions have evolved/been created.

That's not true at all. If global warming is correct in theory, we are seeing the pollution effects from the 60's-70's. We won't see the effects from today for another 40 years.

It is definately important to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but the severity of their inolvement is to be questioned.

first of all, all plane travel in the world wasn't stopped on 9/11. Only the plane travel in a few countries. And even if it was, it wouldn't make the earth's temperature drop a few degrees. An instand few degree drop in temperature would be catastrophic. There would be huge storms across the world, ocean currents would get messed up, the climate wouldn't recover for hundreds of years. In the past hundred years, the earth's temperature has only risen a few degrees.

Secondly, more and more research is showing that the single biggest thing humans have done to advance global warming was start farming 8000 years ago. Three papers published in the Journal Nature in the past two years and two papers published in the Scientific American this year support this theory. After the beginning of agriculture, humans have been very slowly increasing global warming (obviously more and more in recent years) compared to the damage done by churning up the earth and .

Now, this is only a theory, but it is becoming an increasingly popular theory in the scientific community about the roots of global warming.

how can they call it a truth? it's a prediction based on theories about something which is not completely understood (the weather)

i mean, the prediction for the weather tomorrow is only so accurate, but they will call what they think is going to happen 10, 15 or 20 years down the road a truth?

its true, when the planes stopped flying for a few days, the average temperature of the country went down like 3 degrees which may not seem like much, but is really monumental on a country wide scale
