Why make a ski with no taper?

I was looking at the Fischer line up for next season, and a lot of their skis have no taper, i.e. the same tip and tail width. Doesn't that make you continue to carve when coming out of a turn? seems a bit odd

i guess you are referring to he addict (can't remember which else). if these are just park skis then switch riding is prolly more important than carving ability so thats prolly why no taper...

yeah I guess so. Ugh, I just don't understand why someone would take away from all mountain ability. I still have yet to fathom how someone could buy skis with the idea of spending the entire day in the park. Oh well :)

People who have a larger quiver totally would love a dedicated park ski. Myself included. Plus when you live somewhere where the absoulute best and most fun terrain to ride is the park...or the groomers leading you to the park...

I probably do more groomers then park, but I have a park ski.

well there is the problem: that ski blows on groomers because of the no-taper sidecut.

Are we talking the same thing here? A symetrical ski, like an Invader or Fischer Addict? It's just great for park riding because you can ride it switch just like forward. Centermount it and it's riding great forward and switch.
