VAN CITY locals, help me

taking my girlfriend to dinner in van city on friday. i need a nice place. i took a previous girlfriend to cin cin, so dont suggest milestones. it doesn't need to be quite that expensive - just give me all your suggestions.

also, does anyone know of any good plays that are running right now (in van obviously)?

'west' seems to be a notable spot, voted best restaurant and best chef in vancouver last year. anyone been here? christ sakes its expensive.

never been there. but you cant go wrong with the observatory on grouse. still fancy, amazing views, and unique.

i like the salmon house on the hill too. or are you wanting something downtown?

Check out the New Joey's on Broadway
Check out 'Sip' on Granville, every dish is cooked with your selection of booze
Try Chianti's on 4th, its alright and not very $$$
The Eatery on Broadway has arguably some of the city's best sushi, has a great atmostphere and some wicked drinks.
I have heard a lot of good things about West that you mentioned
Watermark in Kits has a wicked view, and its not crazy expensive but the dishes aren't that big.
If you want a real fancy steak house try Hy's, Gotham, or Morton's
Seafood go for Sandbar at Granville Island
fuck i dunno theres tonnes of good ones.

Or Glowbal Dining Lounge
Feenie's on Broadway has the same executive chef as Lumiere and isn't as expensive

And maybe Salt Lik (spelling might be slightly off) if you're looking for steak. It's new, looks fancy, but I haven't been so I can't say much other than "it looks really cool from the outside".

all these are good, I don't know all of them of course, but I'd definitely suggest The Boathouse for a romantic dinner, view of english bay, and not that expensive (probably around 15 an entree).

and I'd avoid the eatery, the sushi is good, but a lot of highschoolers like me are there because they don't ID, and it's usually loud and crowded. For sushi try tsunami sushi on robson, very cool place, great sushi, one of those boats floating around help yourself things with tables as well

samba on alberni is good. all you can eat brazilian steakhouse. i think its 30 bucks

yeah le crocodile is suuuuper good, as is lumiere. but i'm sure she would like somewhere a little less pricey but with a better atmosphere or view more. well i would at least. whoever said the boathouse, thats a nice one too.

i'm thinkin its gonna be west or raincity grill thanks for the help though. you could answer this other question though: despite our classy meal, we are going to change directions and probably go see tokyo drift since its gotten okay reviews and theres no real quality movies in theaters (that i haven't already seen). what is a good theater in van that we could turn to? either A: a nice clean multiplex (love the colossus) or B: something with some personality, but not ghetto

Paramount downtown (Burrard and Smithe i think?). Only a year old, very nice. Something with personality, The Ridge (although not quite anymore), Tinseltown is also a nice multiplex and they play more interesting movies usually.

i am gonna disagree with you. Yes there are a few highschoolers there but you hardly notice them, there are highschoolers everywhere. The sushi is still good and thats what you are going for. They have lots of really cool and different sushi and their menu is really large. Especially with thier new lounge the place has wicked decorations lots to look at. Yes, its loud, but any really fun place is. And for the weekends since they have the expanded space with the lounge, you shouldn't have to wait as long.
