i would smack someone in the face if i heard them call pasta sauce gravy. Gravy is gravy, not sauce. I've never even heard of this.

Gravy: juices that come out of meat when you cook it. Should only be eaten on meat, potatoes, vegetables or combinations of those three.

Pasta sauce: sauce you put on pasta. Anyone who puts gravy (as defined above) on pasta is weird and doesnt challenge the definition. Trust me, I'm Italian.
