you have to have the IP for your router, and then you can just change the settings
go to command prompt and type in "ipconfig" then type the IP in the address bar in your browser....try that

or you can man up and tell him to stop stealing bandwidth.
Go to control panel, network connections, select the router, properties, authentication

1) Google your router and model number and find the default settings IP address.
2) If its password protected, try the generic ones (admin, password, etc) if you didnt write down the password.
3) Go to Security or Privacy settings and use 64-bit incoding to protect your signal. For some reason, 128-bit doesnt always work with all computers/laptops.
If all else fails, call the helpline for your router and they will walk you through the settings and they can change your passwords if you forgot em

It might be under wireless settings, and then use WEP, or something along those lines.
Have a nice day everyone. :)

login to the router, go to wireless setup, select something along the lines of active control list. it will then show who is connected, select your wireless computer and it will only allow that mac address to access the network. hit apply and logout of the router

how do you know if you haven't been able to get ontot the router settings?
^the way i check is by loging into the router settings (using the ip address) and a list of users ip addresses is normally availible.

type in:
192.168.1.1 into any internet browser
the default username/password to get into your router settings is admin/admin
you're on your own from their, as every router is different, but there is probably something that you're looking for in there

I hate to say it, but d-loc has the best idea. WEP is good, but is easily cracked.. when you set your key, make sure it's at least 15 characters long.

yeah do what this guy is saying.
Also do what d-loc is saying if you're really worried about him stealing your internet.
