next spring break my family and i want 2 go out west... i was wondering wat a good intermediate, not really a busy, resort that would be nice... either utah or colorado is fine.. we jsut dont know where to go
Well I live in Maine and for the last 4 years i have been going to Vail and that place is AMAZING... there mountain is so rediculous with there park and there HUGE backbowls... also after skiing there town is sick for shit like walking around and picking up chicks... Vail is my vote... i love it, i would have sex with Vail if I could
Hit up Solitude or Powder Mountain in Utah. I don't know resorts as far as Colorado go, but at Solitude you can generally stay out of trouble, and get AWESOME views of the big terrain in Utah. Powder Mountain is always empty as well, and holds fresh snow for weeks. Everything at Powder is pretty mellow terrain, so no problems as far as terrain goes.I'd stay away from Alta and Snowbird. If you are only looking for intermediate terrain there is pretty much nothing and you will be frightened and intimidated bye the mountains. Solitude and Powder are more welcoming. You can also check out Snowbasin which is massive and has quite a bit of intermediate terrain.
For Vail the lines go VERY fast because there lifts are sick! also the whole front side of the mountain is as easy as you want or for the back as hard as you like... a perfect family trip
Ive never waited in a line at either, even on holiday weekends. And there should be plenty of terrain for him. All of Powder except their cat skiing is very mellow. Some of the Park City resorts may be better as far as terrain, but not crowds.
I have never been to Colorado or Utah but im guessing they are pretty sick. My dads been there and said its nice, but he said Washington has just as good of quality in many cases. I would suggest Mt. Baker here in Washington. LEGENDARY powder, Colorado and Utah got NOTHING on Baker. It doesnt get crowded since its right by the Canadian border.
Your coming out west for park? Haha man, when you come out here from the east you gotta cruise the mountain. Seriously, hit the pow while you got the chance, you east coasters complain about skiing on ice...and you get a chance for powder and you hit park? Come on...
Its not that hard to learn, just start on some easier runs and work your way up, its much better than park. I'm from the midwest but ive been out to vail, breck, copper, keystone, jackson hole, big sky, and sun valley. I liked jackson the best but they took out the tram which kinda sucks but there will still be amazing skiing. I'd say go to summit county which has breck, copper, keystone, and vail is really close. Its much cheaper if you stay in like frisco or dillon too.
my dad said the trip is to long 2 trip... like we would fly in but hten like a couple hour drive in the mountains.. it looks like we are going 2 park city.. any ideas about that? or any feedback about park city
Think about going to Steamboat. I have been out there 3 times and love it. You can fly into Denver and it is about a 3hr drive from there through (mostly through desert and ranches.) But you don't have to fight the traffic going to Vail, or Aspen. Its a great mountain for the family, but still has some amazing stuff, and the park is sick.
yea vail seems to be a pretty intermediate mountain...like 70% of the bowls are skiable for id say intermediate skiers. alot of mellow stuff.theres also some more challenging stuff that youd enjoy
