Volant was a Colorado bases company with Shane McKonkey as there main 'big' sponser. Shane has 4 signature skis. When they were made in CO, the skis were heavy but had a great flex, but did delam every now and then.
Volant now is made by Gen X out of Onterio Canada, they use less steel now and are lighter, but does not flex as nice. They do have a web site... www.volantsports.com
The Gravity is a good all mount ski, holds ok at high speeds and feels good turning.
take this for what it is worth

How old are you guys like 11? Volant was around for years, McConkey has been with them since the beginning. Yes, they went under in CO and now work out of Canada and make the spatulas which, according to McConkey are the next big thing in big mountain skiing. They make the 'machete' twin series, but generally they're a ghetto company that's not worth a second look, even for $100, I'd laugh if I saw anyone on Volant, except maybe spatula's those are so random they're almost cool.
But still I can't believe you'd never heard of them, I thought you were joking....if you don't know you ski companies, go back to snowlerblading foo

Well I have they Volant Machete Huckster from a couple of years ago and they rip. Sure they are heavy, but they are so damn good everywhere. I have skied them super hard everywhere and now signs of breaking even after 3 years. I don't know anything about Volant's new ski lines, but the old machetes were amazing!

i had the machetes for three days last year. Really good for the mountain (pow and groomed), sucks ass in the park. The binding ripped off when i cleared the landing of a table and landed flat.
so...

even though mcConkey is a badass volants still suck. the only people you will see on the mountain with a pair of volants are rich old ladies and old guys who stick to groomers all day. by making them out of metal they make their skis too heavy for anyone else

Volant skis were steel capped even before the shaped ski came to be, yes they are owned by Gen-X which is the same company that owns Huffy, but not GT or Schwinn they are owned by Pacific (also owner of Mongoose) which is the #1 maker of crap cycles in the world. Famous for there Walmart bikes... Volant sold all it's equipment for manufacturing and there skis are being pressed by someone else, none-the-less not a bad ski at all...McKonkey has skied them for years.

Rossi cuts are ok, not a twin tip. They do have turned up tails but no spring in the front and back. But hey go out and rock them and who cares!!
