Replying to Anti-war protests

ok i went and saw strike anywhere last night and one of my buddy's friends came along. this guy is a total skid. anyways, we get to talking and i find out the cops are lookin for this guy for burning an american flag at a prostest in ottawa the other day. now im all for freedom of speech but isn't the protest supposed to be about being against the bush adimistration and not against a country as a whole? if a canadian politician did something really fucked up and someone burned a canadian flag i'd be out for blood! does anyone else see a problem with this?
