Probably gettin a new (new used) car this summer and was thinking about a WRX wagon. Ive heard nothing but good reviews and shit so im pretty set on this. but anyone have personal reviews/opinions on them?

the suspension on the WRX is way more finely tuned, and it has a fuckload more hp

without the turbo the car has 120 HP and is a piece of crap. If you want to buy a 98 or 99 Impreza and buy an STI engine from STI then buy a super charger to eliminate the turbo lag form the WRX and its Japanese Turbo that have no liquid bearings (german) so call STI and get an after market engine it will be a lot faster and not look like a VW bug

actually, the 2.5rs and the wrx have the same suspension, the only difference between the two is the engine and some exterior and interior things.

and it has 165hp... not 120

don't do what Ekiain or whatevcer said it might ruin the engine. likewise putting a turbo or super charget on a engine that was not ment for one might ruin the engine. you see the engine that is not ment for those is not ment to take that much pressure...

JUN racing in japan has taken a stock wrx, put a 2.5l stroker kit with crankshaft, 100mm pistons, etc etc etc, yada yada yada. it lays claim to the fastest imprezza in japan, on it's first outing at Tsukuba circuit, it layed down a 58.239 lap time. the fastest is an EVO V made by the same company at 55.976. so, this wrx after it's first outing is a very mighty candidate for the new record.

^accords arent AWD. nuff said.

The 2.5 would have more potential than the 2.0, but upgrading a 2.5 to handle boost would cost major $$$. Stroker kits are a waste of money in my opinion. And superchargers are only good for low-end power, if you want to use one to spool a big turbo, that would be cool but hard to tune proper. 1998 and 1999 imprezas dont have a rear LSD which sucks major ass.

mc and i know someone who as i've talked to him use to rally cars and he hates the wrx (which pisses me off b/c i'm gonna get one at some point if the test drive goes off well). he drove the high end model, 227 hp, not the sti b/c it's not out yet and there are only 3000-3500 being made...anyways, he said the suspension was too tight for the rest of the steering mechanism, but also said it was probably just him b/c he's picky about what he drives. of course he's like buy an a4 instead which i'm sure anyone would do if they had the money.

well, the thing about scooby's, or any other car for that matter, is if your going to do serious rally, you upgrade suspension, sway bars etc. in my old 89 celica, the car my buddy and i rallied for awhile, we put 3 or 4 grand into the suspension. but if your racing production class, then yes, the scooby is not feelgood. but neither is a neon, or celica, or focus. (although i liked the scooby the best out of 'em all)

wagon has more cargo space but looks gayer than the sedan. and another selling point of the wrx is the leather wrapped steering wheel.

You can get an awesome holeshot with AWD cuz theres hardly any wheelspin. At high speeds, the heavy drivetrain soaks up quite a bit of power. And upgrading your suspension for rallying is the least of your concerns. If you race with a sanctioning body that cares at all about anyones safety you'll need a roll cage- thats $2000 if you dont know anyone that welds real good. You might have to use certain tires. Youll need a 4 maybe 5 point harness. Keep in mind 5point harnesses arent street leagl most places which I know is total crap. You might need an approved fuel cell, nomex suit, certain helmet, yadda yadda yadda depends on who you are racing under. But just meeting minimum requirements can be a pain THEN you gotta shell out for the performance mods.

yup yup. youth is right. it's a bitch to get it approved for a decent car. the sti is going to run about 38-40 grand. that's what i've been reading on a few scooby reviews. but it's an enthusiasts car. no stereo. just the purr of the engine.

thats the 2004 sti in that picture, 300+hp, that goes for like 30-35000. The 2004 wrx is like 25,000, has the same exterior but only 227hp

Three-point seat belts come standard for the STi. The seat belts have electronically triggered pre-tensioners and force limiters to keep the driver firmly in his seat. Also, an integrated roll bar is in the frame for rollover safety.
