so today 6/15, def the one of the best, if not the best (memorial day weekend was very nice) days all season. checked online and it said clean early, and should build later in the day. not knowing when "later in the day" was, and already being amped to go out, i got to tobay at around 1130. pretty much flat except for a set that would come every like 20 minutes and be maybe knee high. so i'm in the water for maybe an hour and i start to want to get out cause all i had on was my springsuit and the water was under 60. right as we start to paddle in i see it start to build up, so we paddled back out and waited another 10-15 minutes. out of no where chest high sets just started pounding down on us, but luckily we got out. i still don't have a board so i was stuck bodyboarding, and it was a real struggle to get out. anyway, it started getting serious at around 1:30 and it was pretty much non-stop chest to maybe a little over shoulder sets (hard to tell from bodyboard). anyway, long story short, one of the sickest days of the year, and it was even better cause we weren't expecting anything like it was. anyone else on the east coast score today or this past week?
i wasnt surfing that day, but memorial day was pretty good. The water wasnt too bad 52 degrees. I was the only one rocking a 3/2 with no booties. I stayed out for 2 hours and then i thought i had an ice cream embedded in my brain
someone on tgr was selling a rip curl 4/3 brand new for 100. idk if it's still for sale, but he bought two or something, and they retail for like over $200
yea and dry suits are definately not ideal for surfing. my 5/3 was good in early march (when i bought it) so im sure a 6/4 would be good for like anything.
I rock a 5/4 all winter (just N. of Boston) and i'm usually fine. Although a 6/5/4 would keep me a bit warmer, I like how my 5/4 is a TINY bit thinner. I guess it just depends on how big ya balls are....until they shrink
