I have been working on our senior video. last wee ki was importing vhs tapes by connecting the vcr to my camera, and then to the pc wit ha firewire. it worked out really well. now i am trying to do this again and its not working. if i unplug the firewire cables, it shows the vhs video on my camera screen, but once i plug in the firewire nothing happens. when i try to watch it on tv, it doesnt work, but when i take out the a/v cables it shows on the camera screen. so that means both cables work, but together they don't. anyone know what's up with this

I was under the impression that you couldn't use your camera to convert analog video to digital video but since you said you did it already then I don't know what to tell you.

what i mean is that the computer wont recognize that i hae the vcr connected anymore. so now i cant capturre the tapes in the first place s oi cant convert them. i was thinking of using my digital cam t o film it on the tv but tv's have bars that scroll up the screen

I use mgeg encoder by imtoo to convert vhs to dvd. cause vhs is not digital, there is a free 5 min version you can try to see if it works. at imtoo.com. but if you are using a firewire it should be digital vhs so I don't know, seeing it worked the other time.
