Absinthe Trailor and ski industry

Absinthe Trailor was good but nothing really new. If Berman, Johnny or Ostness had the budget of Absinthe I think you would see some new shit. The problem with skiiing is the mags and Old Guard industry folk who still think Glen Plake is cool. Powder is for people who like to ski Powder & BC. but they still push our sport more than any other mag. (Back Nine, best photos) Freeskier still thinks the park is cool and barely publish backcountry kickers. IE The only photos of Teddybear crisis jumps I saw were Chad's. Where was Mary Ellen, Dry Fork, Guardmens, Flagstaff upper & lower, Hip Of Love, Snowbird Half pipe gap etc. I goes for other movies too. Ski Time just plain sucks, could have been the new Freeze but they sure Fuck that up. SBC skier photo editor is old school and dosn't give a shit about BC kickers. Ski & Skiing , do I need to say more.
I lot of top Snowboard Co. (Burton, Tech Nine, DC Shoes etc. ) are run by ex snowboarders who know What The Fucks Up. Just check out the Burton tour and you will see what I mean. Our sport will change if we support the company's and filmers who make a difference. By the way Tanner had a sled long before this season.

i agree fully with what that guy said, things will change in time i hope. snowboarding was founded on the "cool" stuff so it's been easy to stay on top of it in mags, comps, everything. skiing has changed and the people who run the media and industry need to realize the changes in the way its presented.
one more thing, that ski time interview issue was the dumbest crap i have ever read, none of the questioned pertained to skiing. i dont know, surveys of the readers may tell a differnt story, but i dont think people care what there 18 year old kids eat for breakfast and whatnot, we wantt o know the tricks they do and see sweet pictures from people other than chris o connel (no offense chris, you jsut have like a thousand shots and i'd like to see some new photos from real locations)

yeah, i don't know that i think the ski industry would be where these guys are if they had the money. Maybe ostness, but hes been ahead of his time for a long time, but the level and style of riding in that teaser is ridiculous, as is the cinematography. i hope that skiing can get that dope soon, because the talent is getting close.

Cable Cams are nothing new , they have been used before including skiing. In the early 90's a Canadain film company ( I'll try to find out the name of the flick) set one above a chute and shot the skier skiing down it. Go watch The Collective ( mountain bike flick) and you will see a sick cable cam. The cable cam that they used was set up in Guardmen pass area. I talk to the boarders and the filmers and they said the terrain could have been a lot better. And yes if Ostness was still making movies you would have seen a sick cable cam in the backcountry. The Absinthe crew would have been there with him shooting there talant too.

hey fucko, he has been a member for 3 years... check yourself douchbag.
Also, The trailor had a ton of dope angles and shots, but the slow motion is fucking killing me. I can only take so many 3/4 speed shots. How does snowboarding get away with that much overdramatized slow motion? How come no one says a thing when Community Project was 30 minutes too long b/c 85% of the movie was done in slowmo? I loooooooved Futureproof, Afterlame, Lame, Pop, etc, so don't start telling me off, but is seems like these snowboard movies get a "free pass" when it comes to shit like this...

no assclown, 5 posts means that maybe he has more to say when he does post than some cock gobbler who talks just to talk. And no, he is not full of shit. What he wrote is true. Take some time off the site and come back when you are a little better educated.

glen plake IS cool and always will be cool. he contributed so much and helped to show people there are different ways to ski.
besides that i can see where you are coming from and yeah maybe some ski film companies aren't always doing things well but different film styles isn't such a bad thing. i liked the msp trailer it could have been less cheesy but it could have been worse.

man i fucked that up. basically i agree with you but i don't think the ski films we've got nowadays really suck it's just that not all of them are doing 100% what people want to see. the absinthe trailer kinda had what the kids wanna see if you like.

i was gunna say the same thing, and I would say this. People are people. Skier and Snowboarders are the same. They progress at similar rates. They are just different cultures with different fads at the time

yea are you kidding me that is the sickest preview ever. buttering all over the place like nobodys buisness. makin it all steezy as fuck. and those cable cams in the backcountry damnnnn.
and no i dont think that if ski movies had bigger budgets they would be close to snowboard movies. sorry, i say it every year snowboarding is so far ahead of skiing you cant put a date on when skiers will ever catch up.
