Need help dslr

Alright so i have a d50. It works fine and all the shots come out nice with the 18-55mm lens. I recently purchased a 50mm 1.8 nikkor lens and whenever i go to take a picture in the control pannel and on the bottom part of the view throughout the lens it flashes fEE. I searched throughout the manual and skateperception isnt working currently so i was wondering if anyone knows what the problem is.
