Cristiano is a ridiculously talented kid. You cannot argue that. And he wasn't just playing in the England match, he was leading, every bit as much as was Figo. He isn't finishing plays, no, but he is making his team better.
And you want to talk about diving? You have France and fucking Italy in the last 4, and you're going after PORTUGAL for diving? Give me a fucking break...

The teams that always peak later in the cup get the furthest, all four teams that have made it through lived up to their potential in the semis, especially france

it's called slide tackling and when it's done right, it's completly legal, and actually quite a skill for a good defender to have.

unbelievable... the cheater scores and del piero buries it.
bye bye germany.
damnit, i would be happy to say that italy was the best team, if the whole australia disgrace didn't tarnish italy's rep even more.
Italy played better, and won, no surprise there. Not happy though.

i can't stand the italians. they roll around like fucking babies constantly. well, more so than the others anyways. in fact, i can't stand soccer sometimes in itself. how can anybody in their right mind cheer for teams in a sport that revolves around faking injuries?

wow, that game was so exciting. one of the better games of the cup. i am really impressed with the level of play in that game. both Italy and Germany played so well, shame one of them had to lose.
now onto tomorrow's match. GO FRANCE!!

BAhahahahah eeeeehhhhhhhh
Happy to have finished it like that, the germans deserve it for playing like shit. All those who say Italy play boring job on; they have been playing alot more attacking then so called funner teams(ie Germany, Portugal, England).
Man that was sweet, to be honnest Italy should be a little sharper, they should have been at LEAST a goal up after the first half. Hoping for a great final...

Have you ever been kicked or hit at fullforce, as you were running fast? It hurts, its not like hockey that you have fucking padding.
That's right bye Germany, your gone. Italia is in the finals.

Its just a weak point about football. I hate it too, but i see the funny side to it. Also you have to take into mind that footballers fall easier or jump out of the way when being fouled to risk getting really injured. And the referee is a lot less likely to notice a foul if a player takes a beating and carries on. It doesnt revolve around faking injuries, thats just due to a small proportion who give the sport a pussy name. OK how about american football? how can you watch a game that revolves around stopping for commercials every 5 minutes??

That is my main gripe about american football. Americans say soccer is slow and boring, but I honestly have no idea what they are talking about. Commercials every 5 minutes and 3.5 hour games NORMALLY? I mean come on, it doesn't make any sense

Did you even watch the game? There was no diving today, and BOTH Germany and Italy were trying to sell the ref calls. Yea, the Italians are notorious for diving, but it doesn't mean they do it excessively every game. And every team does it anyway.

not such a fan of football either. right now, baseball is where it's at. the thing i love about it, is to score runs, you actually need to hit the ball. there's nothing to fake. in soccer, you could win the fuckin grand daddy of all tournaments 1-0 on a penalty kick by being in the crease while somebody's free arm gently brushes against your body causing you to roll around like a goddamn sissy, faking a severe neck injury.
i think a sweet rule to make soccer NOT gay would be if somebody gets 'injured' causing the ref to stop play, he must immediately exit the field and is not allow to play the remainder of the game. too many times those fuckin pansies clinch their ankles like they've been smashed to bits, only to get up 10 seconds later and continue running at full speed.
don't get me wrong, i think soccer players have the most skill of any player in their respective sport, but that's exactly the problem. they're all so skilled that the only way to get an advantage on the opposing team is to get free kicks, penalties, etc etc.. which has lead to people faking injuries.

man, i got all worked up there. haha. i just hate when they roll around like bloody idiots to get the ball, which leads to chances, goals, and even world championships. i understand that some calls they have to sell, but you have to admit, they fake injuries like teenage prostitutes fake orgasms.

The thing is about football (i refuse to call it soccer, as that isnt its name) is that a goal is such a special thing, and when a team that you are rooting for gets a goal, its a special feeling. In baseball, you just dont get that, as a run isnt that special. Football is the biggest sport in the world and has the most passionate fans, sure your gonna get flaws in it, and a lose from an unjust penalty may that makes the better team lose is very frustrating, it gives the sport more character, makes it more interesting, unpredictable, and more loveable. If its not your cup of tea then fair enough, but i think generally not enough americans play/watch football, and your missing out on something special if you dont.

yeah i completely agree man. very valid points. but personally, i find that the fact that pretty much a goal means a victory ruins it for me. once i see one team score, the game just isn't entertaining anymore. they go into defense mode, and the team that's losing just starts scrambling to get it back.
i'm the kinda guy that loves to sit at the edge of my seat when the bases are loaded with two outs in the bottom half of the ninth with the home team trailing by 1.. now THAT'S excitement. with every pitch that goes by, it's such a gut wrencher. and then there are things like walk-off home runs. in soccer, there's no 'the team is losing, and with one play, the game is over, and they've come from behind to win.' i mean, yes, they can tie it up then win afterwards, but in sports, such as baseball, where you have the ability to score multiple points in one play, i find the excitement level skyrockets.
that's my kinda game.

what about the rest of the time, when baseball morphs into a wicked slow paced game and you are just sitting there waiting for something to happen.
and with soccer the game never stops and there is always something happening, as opposed to an exciting 30 second play and ten minutes of everyone standing around.

i find baseball so damn boring. Sure bottom of the ninth, 1 run game is exciting, but how often does that happen? Once every 50 games? Baseball takes FOREVER, and 96% of the time it is boring as hell.
All times are Eastern (-5)
