not a bad injury at all. YOu're lucky you didnt dislocate your shoulder though. Torn AC takes like 2-3 weeks to heal and it heals well. You'll get a wierd bump, almost like a parrot's perch, on your shoulder, although that apparently goes away after a while, although I tore my AC 2 years ago and I still have the bump.
i tore mine this year too. i just kept it in a sling for a week and skied with no poles very leisurely. 3-4 weeks i was skiing full bore. i tore it in january no physical therapy. no problems as of yet doctor even recomended no physical therapy. still got my bird pirch. i just tell the girls to rub the nub.
yeah well I guess it all depends on what degree of seperation you have. I could get back to skiing pretty quick, but it took me 9 months to get the strength back in my arm in terms of benching and other activities that require shoulder strength.
i had that happen two seasons ago and didnt do shit. skied as hard as possible, just didnt fall directly on the shoulder itself and it was fine, the "parrot's perch" the dood above was talking about went away in like a month. no sweat.
I've done both of mine...like most above me said....not that bad, stay off it for a week or two...makes my shoulders dislocate really easy though, but they are just as easy to put back in which is good.
I tore my right one pretty bad. It has healed for the most part. Still hurts if you pull heavy weights at the wrong angles. It really sucks to land on skiing.
I have heard swimming really helps. im gonna start doin that
there was a related shoulder thread to this but i'll say this in here too. Im a junior majoring in pre-physical therapy and i got a type III shoulder separation last winter so if you have any questions feel free to PM me. We'll chat
