Definition of "Selling out"?

ok so i have SORT OF noticed the mass amount of "line is selling out" this and that. so what is the true definition of selling out? im pretty sure it's when someone changes their ways to make money, which is gay. but what more then half of you kids who "know the industry" are saying is that selling out is being bought by a company. how is there anything wrong with that if they don't change? when rossi was bought by quik have they changed? no. line will stay un changed even more so. stop your bitching, there is no selling out in the ski world unless your going to go about changing your ways to do it.
while im on the subject, i would also like to point out how there is no selling out with athletes because our whole sport is based on advertising and when a skiier signs a contract they sell themselves so all those skiiers you thought were "core" aren't.

The whole Line/K2 thing should be good for both of them. Its a pretty common business practice to be aquired by a larger company. Line will now have wider marketing, better distribution, and more money.. nothing wrong with that. K2 will now have more products to level out their product mix. K2 makes good skis, but are more focused on rec skiers so the addition of Line is great. I dont think the skis at each company will change much.. because if K2 starts making Lines or vise versa, their is not business point to the buy out.. K2 could have just introduced more twin tips instead. But only time will tell. Smart move on line to sell no rather than wait untill they run themselves into the ground due to money issues.

our whole industry (just like every other) is based on making the most money, its like natural seletion: the most fit survive and you do what you can to keep going, regardless of if you're core or not.
Example: ninthward, I've heard has recently decided to get their skis built in some foreign land due to the fact that they are growing so fast. At the same time their team is running a muck at the masters because (i would guess) they really dont care about putting out a certain image but they do care about making more profit off their skis. In my opinion being core and making good decisions are two very different things (nothing against 9th, their team is the best in skiing right now).

are you kidding??? based on what??? they don't win comps or kill it in any movie. Except for Cosco they are the most undeserving sponsored athletes in our sport. Their team is comprised of riders past their prime or too young and dumb to know how to make it in this industry...
