In all seriousness though-
Boulder is a better college town. Closer proximity to ski resorts than FoCo, closer proximity to Denver (even though I don't ever go down to Denver). CU just has a lot more to do right here than CSU.
My experience with CSU is that there are alot more people there from rural areas (ie eastern plains). It is generally more conservative too. Our girls at CU are generally better looking as a whole.
CU does have it's downsides too- lots of people here from California that are obnoxious, useless, and anoying (not that all people from CA are like that). The administration here is also way to beurocratic and it is hard to get stuff done on your behalf (I had issues with them making mistakes on my record this past semester and it has been a shit storm trying to clear it up).
If you want to be a vet or are interested in construction management, then go to CSU. Pretty much every other program is better at CU.

it is something people here in Boulder say about CSU- CSU is a joke school, therefor not a real college. This is obviously a joke.
It fits into the same category with "Oh, you go to CSU? Well, have fun bagging my groceries"

CSU blows compare to boulder. The town of Ft. Collins is wack, Cu is a lot chiller and a lot more good skiers, bomb ladies and danker chron

If you want to go to CU, go to Boulder. Boulder is the biggest and original campus. Springs is NOT the place to be

springs sucks.
ft collins is cool, but further from the mountains. you'll still have a lot of fun here.
boulder has it's perks, but the town as a whole is trapped in it's own little bubble of "reality." it's just......weird. i personally can't stand boulder, but there is a lot of cool shit there regardless.
but the springs sucks. we can all agree on that.
try DU if you have the $

as much as I absolutely love boulder, living here does fuck with my mind...alot sometimes. Hard to explain, but I am transfixed by it. It is really the people that make the town for me. Some of the people that are drawn to here are very strange, but some of the people are amazing. It is the amazing ones that make Boulder what it is to me. My friends are incredible, but I don't know how much I would like it without the close-knit group of friends I've got.

boulder fucking sucks. ive rolled through that town a couple times and every person ive met is absolutely stuck on how they live in boulder. these fucks cant get over themselves. they're either A) talking about themselves B) talking about how much better boulder is than where your from C) how good their chrnoic is (ive heard it a million times you fuckheads) D) how they just went to a frat party and saw a girl get gangbanged and how goddamn incredible it was

Alright man seriously Ft. is a much better party town if thats what you are looking for. I live in Denver and I drive over an hour all the time to party up there. The bars are much better and cheaper. The girls are all way hotter than in Boulder. The thing about boulder is there are a lot of hippies. And most of the girls are hippies too. I would say go to CSU. Its cheaper than CU as well. All these people saying that CU is cheap are fucking stupid, or...there parents pay for school. So yeah it would be cheap for them $0.
But really go to CSU!

you know nothing of which you speak. A small percentage of people here in Boulder are hippies, including the girls. Yes, CU is really fucking expensive out of state- like $35-37,000 a year, but that statement about the girls here in Boulder was WAY off. It is equivelant to saying that all of the people at CSU are farm hicks and the girls are all fat, ugly farm girls. While a percentage of girls from CSU are that way, not all are. So here in Boulder we have the hippies, and instead of hippies FoCo has ugly farm chicks. I'll take the hippies thank you very much! Boulder is known for our hot girls, FoCo is not.
Also, besides the partying (you can party hard at any school, and I'm not going to get into a discussion on who parties harder), there is more for ME to do here in Boulder. We've got world class trad and sport climbing in Boulder Canyon, the Flatirons, and Eldorado Canyon. We are in closer proximity to the big mountains than FoCo, countless mountain biking trails, and we have urban whitewater. It is all personal opinion, but if you like the outdoors, Boulder is the place to be.

I went to CSU. Great school, good price, a really fun town, but most importantly I got a really good education..probably better than my friends in the same area at CU. Also the arguement above about the outdoors stuff being better at CU.. is kinda crap. CSU has tons of outdoors stuff. Horsetooth resivoir is like 10 mins away. Plus Ft. C has sooo much to do. Parties are crazy.
The extra 30-45mins drive to the mtns isn't bad... and a ton of people do it... so get some friends and you'll only have to make the trip like once out of every three times. Thats what I did.
The girls... well there are hotties both at CSU and CU. But my general feeling is that the girls at CSU are a lot nicer and down to earth.. and there are a lot of them!! CU just seems to have a lot more stuck up outta state girls.. cali especially.
And I currently live in Boulder so I'm not talking out my ass.
oh and yes there are a lot of hippies in boulder.

well, I must agree with you on the stuck up out of state girls- especially from cali, but those aren't the people I hang with.
It really comes down to where you personally feel more comfortable. Check out both schools and decided for yourself. CU isn't for everyone, neither is CSU.

^ of course. But remeber a few things when you go to college.
FUCKING STUDY... freshman year killed me.. and many students. Be dillagent and sit down and study your ass off for your tests.
BE SOCIAL... no better way to become a pimp and get mad pussy then to be social with everyone you see. Especially in the dorms and during classes. Freshmans are the easiest. They are just as lost and confused as you. Sit next to hotties.. and be social.
DROP STEROTYPES... the nerds and whoever in HS all become one in college. You never know who will graduate and be your boss. Be cool to everyone. and have friends in all areas.

fort collins has WAAAAYYY more hippies than ugly farm girls. you're thinking of cheyenne.
but the hippies here are actually dirty non-shaven hippies. most boulder hippies are just trustafundians who drive mercedes, own prada bags, and go to the salon to get their dreads properly sculpted. but i'm only half serious when i say that.
but seriously, ft collins has plenty of hotties, and most of them aren't the cookie cutter california barbie girls that are a dime a dozen in boulder.

wow thanks lots of good advice here. One of my plans was to work/live for a year to establish residency in colorado. Is this a good plan? I am going to have to pay for college and i flat out cannot afford $30,000 a year. I would be working the year after high school (07-08) and then applying to some college in the state in (08-09).

haha yeah dude. I shouldn't have said that FoCo wasn't known for hot chicks, that's not what I meant, but Boulder does have a problem with Cali chicks that are stuck up. I agree. At the same time, Boulder is known for good looking girls.
This arguement reminds me of the baseball episode of southpark- all the stereotypes of the different places in Colorado. It's pretty funny.
We should all just fuck this kid over and tell him that CSU Pueblo is the place to be.
jk jk...that would be WAY to mean.

Go to Colorado MT. College, steamboat campus the year after highschool and pay the tuition ($12,000 is the maximum for out of state). The ski resort is 3 minutes away from the campus. Here you can establish residency while getting your freshman year over with, then transfor to CU Boulder for your sophmore year. Thats what Im doing.

yeah if you don't know exactly what you want to study, go to colorado mountain college. they have campuses in glenwood springs, steamboat, and summit. most of your classes will transfer to CU or CSU, and you can try to establish residency while still being able to ski a TON. all those general education classes can really be taken anywhere. plus yeah it's a ton cheaper. but that's what student loans are for. make sure you do your homework on residency requirements and specifics on your classes transfering.
on the flipside though, freshman year at a major university is a once in a lifetime experience that is really incomparable to anything else. thousands of people, all the same age, in a close vicinity, without parental supervision, all wanting to get laid and drink alcohol. my freshman year in college was 99/00, and the majority of my good friends now are people that i met in the dorms my freshman year.

wow true that second part^. Yet the fact that mt college is in summit county is pretty bitchin. I think i am still going to take a year off. I really just need to work, so i can pay for college, no matter where i go.

I liked CU alot better than CSU.. boulder is a beautiful place and a real nice school... when i was at CSU i got the feel of the whole hick college and the place seemed kinda run down. I've lived in Fort Collins my whole life and i'm still in highschool. I am very tired of this town. However, I work in one of the dining halls in CSU (so any of you peeps coming here for college should send me a message, we can hit some shit in town or something) and I've grown up around the campus because i live here and my grandfather is a professor there. I think that, unfortunately, I will end up going to CSU. The only reason this is unfortunate is because i have lived here my whole life but i think the campus life will be very different then i am used to. Any ways, I think that CSU is a great school. It has a very tight campus, hot chicks for sure, that are chill to, and there are parties constantly. Also, CSU is way cheaper then CU and in addition Boulder is just weird, just fucked up. I've never liked the place. However, if your thinking of CU having better outdoor activities just come to CSU and i can show you myself all the outdoor stuff here. Also, the drive sucks there is no way of getting around it but hey i'd car pool with any of you coming up, so there you go a solution already. enough of this ramble, come to CSU i'm sure you wont be dissapointed and if you do ill hook you up with some local info and extra large meals in the dining hall, my treat.
