Role of Action Sport Publications

This really doesn't have much to do with skiing, but it's a valid question. These days I live in Oceanside California, home of the Transworld Media Group. Now these guys are home to many publications for todays action sports including the former FREEZE magazine right before they got the axe RIP... Anyway, currently the city counsel has been running wild in the beach area basically bending over backwards to attract developers. Forcing certain types of businesses to relocate and shutting down the only public skate-park that was accessible to the kids in town. Now granted that skate-park was more or less temporary on the premise that the city would be building one closer to the airport (closer to the Transworld HQ) but that never happened. Now the city's youth are forced to skate in places they risk getting their boards confiscated and getting fined. It really seems the police have gotten to be total ass holes in town this last year or so... You can't even skate down the sidewalk without getting threatened by a cop. The point I'm trying to make is: Here in the supposed cradle of the skating world with the biggest name in Skateboard publications right here. Don't you think they would've made an effort to fight the city counsel or at least help out in starting the process of building a new place? Personally I think Transworld isn't out there to serve the people that read their magazines, the only people they serve are the companies that advertise in their publications. But is this really the role that these rags were meant to be originally? In most cases probably not, I can say with certainty they were created to give a voice to these sports that used to have no voice, and to support the communities of the participators. It's a pretty sad situation, I'm boycotting Transworld, I've been doing that since they got rid of FREEZE, but this only makes it easier.

I wish it were that easy. We've been petitioning them forever on this and they don't even respond.
