Sony vx1000 vs. HD

Hey i am lookin into buyin a new camera for filmin skiin and other action sports. i have heard good things about both of the sony's, but was lookin for a little feedback as to the goods and bads of each camera. which one would work better with my macbook pro??? and which one would produce the best shots??? any feedback would be appreciated because i am not a camera wizz. thanks

if you don't know that an hd camera will get you higher resolution shots then you should probably buy a vx1000 or maybee even a cheaper caamera.

if you're just starting out then get a POS camera from the mall before you invest in a high quality one. It's better to learn the basics on a crappy one and then as your skills improve, your equipment can too.

obviously i know the hd will get better shtos, i am not that stupid, but i have seen the vx1000 sell for more than the hd, and have also heard from people who say they prefer the vx1000, so i was just wondering what u think will produce the best shots in conjuction with a macbook pro. thanks

the vx1000 will never sell more than an HD man... its cheap, a grand or so you can get one. you wil need multiple batteries for it as a result of the wya its made...

and if you are referring to the hdr fx1 or whatever its called hd camera, yes buy that if you can afford it. if you can't, get a vx1k or equivalent...

oh, and just a heads up:

both will work fine on your macbook, but HD footage takes up WAAAAAY more space. Video itself is a memory hog, but HD footage is even worse. So unless you've got an external drive, or some rediculously huge internal harddrive, i'd say just get the VX1000.

Also, have you looked at Canon? They make good cameras too.

If you are just starting out try a trv900. Its the cheaper equivalent to the vx1000. A vx is only good if you know how to tweak it. If not then its just like any other $1000 camera.

if you want to see a quality comparison. watch L1P FORWARD then watch Shanghai 6. forward was the vx1000 and Shangai was the FX1 if im not mistaken otherwise it was sonys other hd cam (not the little one).
