Well I think I am going to purchase some sort of camcorder next season. I want to spend under $500, does anyone have any recommendations?

it depends what kind of shooting u want to do...

the best cam i would say for ur price range is this, its a shitty 3ccd...

but i would seriously try and save up like 500 more and try and get ur hands on a sony vx1000 off ebay, or even 300 more for a sony trv900 which is what i have

im saving up right now for the panasonic gs500 camera and so far from what i hear its not a bad camera for its price...............does anyone know how it would be good for skiing and an amature filmer

no way man, if ur gunna drop 1g on that camera, u can get vx1000's on ebay for that price or even less than that
