saw a video of him the other day cant remeber what its called but i think the year was 2001 or 2002. its unbelieveable how far ahead of everyone else his style was. he was tiwce as smooth as hibbert and andy woods. and twice as critical and technical. bag him out all u want on this site but u must agree he was a leader in this sport, and has been a large driver of its fast progression. the guy is amazing

What do you know about Tanner Hall's attitude? Have you met him?

Anyway, back in the day Tanner was so sick (not that he isn't still now). I'll always remember his flat 3 safeties at the Mammoth Superpark.

Tanner is one of the nicets guys in skiing as far as i can tell. He just doesn't like when people don't stand up for what they believe in. He loves skiing more htan anything else and won't ever compromise it. If you've ever talked to him at movie premiers or anything like that you know that he's just a goofy guy who absolutle loves the sport, and it's the only thing he really takes seriously.

HUH?? Have you ever even met him?? He's INCREDIBLY humble. The point is that the whole thing, being a "gangster", c-crew, it's almost all just an act. And as a bit of a joke i gotta add. They are being themselves, a bunch of goofy-ass skiers.

Not the words of a humble man no matter how pissed off he was. Thats why he got jumped at the us open a few years back. I was there and I heard and saw it all. He may act humble sometimes, but thats a serious act. Look at the thread when he started dissing Gagne for his rails. If Charles never had won the X Games that thread would not exist, I can guarantee that....

No way. I couldn't even find that thread by the way. Searched gagnier and found no bad threads about him. I just don't believe that he was totally serious when he said that stuff. And if he did, it's just cuz of how much he loves the sport and how seriously he takes something like that. I kinda thought he shoulda won too. Wutevs.

not bag out his attitude
u must agree he was waaayyyy ahead of everyone, and so many people have copied his style or been influenced by his style
and his session in 1242 is unbelieveable

HAHAHA, this shit is hilarious. I'd be willing to bet that at least 3/4 of the people in this thread have never even seen him. Be that as it may, the thread is about his credentials as an innovator.

Now don't get me wrong, Hall is the best comp (or at least pipe comp) skier atm. However, skiing is about far more than that. Currently I would say he's not even close to being the best skier in the world. That is a position reserved exclusively for Candide.

As for innovation, people like Candide (again), JP, Pollard etc are the ones who have really taken the sport forward and that are responsible for the landmark moments.

I have met Tanner; in Whistler in 2003. Armada had just been unleashed on us and he had just proved he was the king. He was humble and willing to give everyone the time and day for a chat. I dont think tanner ´just picked up this gangsta thing because he got good at skiing. I think its who he is, if he wasn't the "Tanner" we know him as he would be Tanner Hall, the guy with baggy pants that enjoys a puff and has his own personal opinions on the world. thats my view on it anyway.

hey i didnt get beaten at X games and i started around 30 threads on ganiers rollerblading. now look at NS frontpage its the bigest joke ive ever seen, i laughed for about ten minutes straight upon my first viewing...im sure if tanner saw it he would laugh to....its just tanners personal opinion that ganiers rollerblading is gay and it made him angry thatn something so stupid and shit made him loose x games...he is nice watch the spy vid on shanghai six....he is nice to ganier at the bottom of the course....fuck it whatver

i have a uncle that works as a patrol in colorado (forget what mtn) but he see's tanner like 1 a month and he has rode the lift whit him and he says hes a cocky bastard but hes kinda cool too

he takes off and lands extremely well. the shit he does in the air doesnt make any sense to me. but anyone who's seen yearbook knows that he isnt nearly as good at skiing (you know, like actually skiing) as a sick local ripper at any decent mountain.
