really like why does it matter you could have a 2 year old ski instead of a this year model and it could be just as good why do you need this year technology?
Actually, unlike most of your ^ family trees ( to the dumb people above) most skis evolve throught there model years. Im not saying all but alot of them do.
Yeah most companys dont just get exactly the same ski, whack a new graphic on it and sell it a next season model. There is always some form of progession or evoltion, you may not notice it cause they may just make the skis stronger and more durable which on the surface you dont see. Just because their not changing the shape or adding a swallow tail in the back does not mean that there s no differance between old skis and new ones.
Like you skis that are two years old you'll proberly be able to tell the differance if you demo the new version of your skis.
its dumb to buy the same ski every year but if you go from like the Line prophets to the 4frnt Stls then i makes a huge difference.
So the point of buying a new ski is either because yours is wrecked or because you want a different type
Most people on this thread ski a lot. However, skis are typically made for the kind of people who get on the mountain about 5 times a year. They just aren't that durable. Many of the people on this site trash their skis in one season, and it's necessary to get new ones.
ok there is actually very little "progression" as you put it between years. most of the time its a just a diff graff to make it look all new. Yes from time to time they will make small improvements, but they are very small. like putting a metal strip in the underfoot or a karbon strip down each side to make it stronger. To the guy who wanted to know about his skis that are a few years old, no you dont nessarly need to get new planks, will it help? possibly, the way to look at it is like this, do you need to buy new skis every year? no, but would they like you to? yes, its better for buisness.
ya man not at all. i have the 4Frnt STL's 2006, and i also have to dynastar Trouble Makers 2004, and i like the dynastars better, even tho the edges are blown out. It doesnt matter as long as you like the ski and if you ski good on it
not only do eadges fall off and delams ect but the ski itself wears out. i ski on heads and while they are bombproof the roughly 80 days i skied on them this yea make them soften up, they no longer have that snap when skiing.
