It ###### rocks!
Not a studio-type CD. I live in ####### Alaska therefor I never get to go to concerts but now I hear The Mars Volta live. YESS!

I kinda liked them and then I saw them live and now I hate them. Worst live band I've ever seen besides eve 6 (and I've seen a ginormous amount of bands)h

well there is some truth to this. from what i heard tmv is either bad live or fucking amazing. it all depends. fortunatley i was able to see them live and they played amazing. and the black guy playing the piano makes me laugh because when i went to the concert blazed i kept on picturing stevie wonder or ray charles up there.

to see the mars volta live, you need to understand they dont care about playing "songs" kind of how they dont really care about playing a defined chorus or verse in any track. its always a jam, and they will throw in some songs that youll recognize, but you cant expect to go to a tmv show and see them play song by song, its just flowing.
if that made any sense?

yea, i forgot to mention that. when i went they only played about 3 or 4 songs that you could recognize but for the rest of the 2+hours it was just jamming, improvisation. just a synchronized flow.

It wasn't about 'songs' for me, cause I didn't know any that well. They were off key, off beat, and didn't play together at all. It was like watching a hs garage band. I'm sure they're a good band, but seeing them play horrendously live didn't really capture my attention.

i understand what your saying. but i think if you were like really familiar with the material and had heard them alot you would have loved it. they all pretty much do their own thing and if you like that it def works.

I cant imagine how I would have loved hearing a band play off key and not in sync with each other. I'm sure if I saw another show, I'd like them more, but the show they put on that I saw, was a childish performance.
