im building a rail outta metal in my garage, taking it into the shop at school to build it, but the pipe im using has a little rust on it, not much like its falling apart, but just enough to give it the brown colour, would i still be able to slide on it?

yeah dont worry, the worst that would happen is that it would slightly stain your edges and maybe your base. so obviously nothing serious at all.
