my dad seems to be old fashioned in this respect. He is gonna force me to get a job over this summer. how many of youall were FORCED to get a job when you turned 16? and this doesn't have anything to do with paying for a car...

I'm just about as fucking pissed off as I have ever been, EVER. I mean I'll work but it will be me deciding when and such. mostly because I don't see how I can build on my perceved career in computer graphic and web design if I don't have any time to DO computer web and graphic design. I'm sure people would go for it. I would charge much less yet I can make a web site higher quality than probably %70 of the crappy ass sites out there now.


I just don't see my dad's logic. ya he wants me to lern the dissiplin of hard work and shit but I want to build on my own. I would make more money per hour anyway.

As far as I can tell the only place that would employ a 16 year old is; kichen at local collage, kichen at local country club, some county thing that want rediculs hours and doesn't pay crap, local school district (you aprentis someone like a plumber, carpenter and such and get paid)

the kichen at local collage is choice #1 for me bewcause I loke coocking adn the starting pay is $7.25.

I would also go for the kichen at the country club but I've heard that they don;t hire unless your parents are members and my parents happen, not to have an extra 50k around per year

the a thing through the school district sounds ok but I would imagin the pay is as shitty as it can ever get considering they can;t even pay their full time emploies enough

if there is anythy other job that youall can think of that a 16 yearold could get I a would welcome mentioning it here...

Go get a job. Your Dad shouldnt have to force you to work. Thats cool you have a plan of what you want to do, but having a summer job really doesnt take up that much of your life. I dont know or care about how much money you or your dad has but its not a bad thing to buy your own shit and save for school so he doesnt have to.

oh and if you want to make shitloads of money, find a job waitering. Thats what i do along with work in a proshop, the only thing is is that you cant serve alcomahol until your 18, so right now i just do breakfasts and lunches. You can still make a ton of money, especially if you have a good personality, but it can be very hard work.

Yeah you can definitly make some money being a caddy. A couple of my friends have made up to $100 dollars a round. The thing is though is that you have to know what your talking about and suck up to rich bastards. Oh and with the invention of the golf cart, caddies are becoming obselete.

Getting a job at 16 shouldn't be a problem. Skateshops, bikeshops, and any sports shop will probably hire you if you do the whole resume/cover letter thing, talk to them, know your shit, and beg a little. Or try working at a place like Starbucks, it seems pretty chill and you might even kinda like it. Free coffee never hurt either. Oh one more thing: Your dad said 'get a job', he forgot to mention full/part time. Just work somewhere 3-4 times a week, and he'll probably get off your case. Just don't get screwed like I did when I got my first job, and make sure they pay you as much as they say they're going to...

well you could always look for any web design places around you. i am sure there are some in your area and they would probably take you on for summer help especially if you know your shit cause you could do the same as them and they wouldnt have to pay you as much, it works well for both sides.

I had a job delivering catologues when i was 6 years old. My parents told sears that it was my brother who was doing it. I worked from age 6 until 10, then took 2 years off, then my parents had me mowing lawns and soon baby sitting until i could work at mcdonalds when i was 15.
