So i was on my merry way biking back from a normal average day at work while listening to my iPod, when all of the sudden tragedy struck. The music stopped. I thought to myself...'maybe i hit the pause button on accident'. I stop on the side of the path and look at my iPod screen only to see a little logo of an iPod with a sad face with x's for eyes telling me to go to apple.com/support. Now obviously the first reaction that came to me was anger. I realized that my iPod warranty had expired 3 days prior to the incident. I visted the apple support website and the website stated that since my warranty was expired. I had to pay $250 to get it fixed. At this point i was in a jumbled state of disbelief and fury. I want to swear off the technology forever, however in the days of my iPod ownership i have become helplessly addicted to the portable device. I am now forced to embark upon a journey to find money to buy a new one...My iPod broke 3 DAYS after the warranty expired...CONSPIRACY?!?!? me thinks yes
I think he's saying that apple conspired for his Ipod to break just after his warrenty ended so he would have to give them more money. Like I said, probably just crappy luck.
i feel for you man, my 4th generation (click wheel) broke this christmas, one year to the day of when i got it (my dad bought it the week before). NOw i can only play it on my ipod-speaker thing. The funny thing was, my friend had the same exact ipod but it was the 40 gig, and his broke on the exact same day, and he got his on the same day as i did. Coincidence, or not?
I bought my U2 iPod off my buddy for $100, and he'd had it for a year or so. It finally broke about 6 months after I bought it. Apple sent me a brand new one, and it's been fine since. The old iPods are tanks, fuck the new ones.
and another shitty thing.....i bought an extended warranty for $60 about 6 months after i bought my ipod. but apparantly since i have the HP ipod clickwheel the extended warranty that i bought doesnt work for it, it only works for the regular apple issue iPods..so i now have a broken iPod and an unused extended 3 year warranty....its pretty much the gayest thing ever
I have a 30gig photo, one generation off the new ones. Some one stole my one with the four buttons on top, that model was my favorite, tough as shit and no external moving parts.
that shit happens with cars i think
like when you hit a certain amount of miles the check engine light will come on or the seatbelt light and shit like that
ive never thought of ipod
but it could be possible
if ipods were rediculously reliable like creative zens lets just say
i would orgasm
same thing happened to me, except it was one day after it expired. I know a guy that works at customer support at best buy, and I convinced him to send it in for me.
mine ipods still kicking, i get the sad ipod face every once and a while but the trick is to just drop it from like 3ft and that will (hopefully) knock everything back into place. when you're warentees up you have nothing to lose so why not eh?
thats what I have too. it broke once though, but not like really broke, it just wouldnt play some songs, so i got it fixed, and now 2 years later, my batterie is shot, so im sending it back in now actually to get that replaced. only 1 month before my extended warenty expires.
haha i totally agree about 3rd generation ipods..i had one with the 4 buttons on top and it worked perfectly, my theory is that when ipods finally caught on, aplpe started mass producing them just to sell them, and the quality got shittier and shittier. unfortunately my old one got stolen and i had to get a newer one and its broken like 5 times.
my nano's screen died the other day (just showed plain white), and i brought it to the apple store yesterday, and they gave me a brand new nano. no questions asked.
yaaaaa my 4th gen click wheel part broke too but if i click the hold on and off it works sometimes.. this also happened like a week after a year of having it
yeaa go 3rd generation.. ive had mine for about 4 years and the only problem ive really had has been how long the battery lasts.. and thats not even too huge of a deal considering i only use it when im driving
FUCK, I didn't read the first post or anything, but I just came back home, went to take a leak and as I bent over to flush the toilet afterwards (before zipping up or anything if you understand),
MY IPOD FELL OUT OF MY COAT POCKET AND FELL IN THE PISS-INFESTED TOILET--
Now the stupid backlight timer is feebly blinking and the screen is fucked up. Is this covered by the warranty? Dropping the Ipod in a FULL toilet?
Sorry for ruining this thread or whatnot, but I'd swear my Ipod now alse SMELLS like piss. FUUUCK.
haha, holy shit, i thought i was the only one to do that. i got pissed and threw it and it magically worked. i did that at least like 4 or 5 times. its kinda weird how the same thing that makes it break is the same thing that fixes it
Its like anything else you buy these days, as soon as it becomes more than just a fad, compaines like iPod cam start to make bank by building devices that will blow up soon after their manufacturers warrenty expires. Thats why its always a good idea to buy the best and longest warrenty you can possibly get.
