Do you guys ever do that? I am thinking about it but I don't want to get there and have some assholes tell me I can't because of "liabilities". Basically I wanna just go there, build a kicker and work on some rotations since there is still snow. I really don't wanna put the skis away...
It's illegal, they'll sue you if you go.
Seriously though, they'll bitch at you about liabilities. I don't know how lax your mountain is but the employees at mine bitch. So go there after they leave. Also try sundays, usually no one is there.
when therre was snow left at mine i went like every day and no one ever talked to me they just drove by on atvs and waved but the might ttake down your jump or rails at night
your so lucky you still have snow, when you get there just make sure you hike to some place where people cant see you. then you'll be fine, usually theres no one at the mountain a week or two after it closes.
Its been closed for month...i know, damn forest service lands. So they can only stay open til the 16th of April. Here is the webcam of it...id say theres plenty of snow to get a kicker up higher on the Mtn.
I have done it preseason before, and have not had a problem. And my dad did it a long time ago post season, at around this time and he tells me it was really fun. No bitching on either occaision from the mountain. Then again, I live in a country that doesn't sue for just about everything, aha.
as long as you are on forest land or any other type of public land you are welcome to hike as soon as the mountain closes, this includes before and after the lifts run during winter... the cirque at Kirkwood is sick right now!
really who gives a shit? unless your ski po enjoy working after the mountain is closed there isnt gona be a problem. They may own the resort but the dont own the actually snow and mountain . if someone bothers you tell them nicely and athen tell them to fuck off cause there is no liability involved when you dont buy a lift ticket and just hike up. Thats where thers all that shit on the back of the lift ticket about injury, rocks, death
i hike my local mountain, but its aslo belongs to the forest service after the owner's lease is up, but even then the owner didn't care. the least that can happen in you get told to leave i guess.
I have talked to some buddies and it sounds like they are down. So it looks like I will be getting some more turns in. God I love living in Washington.
man when my place still had snow we went more than a few times, but the first time we got in shit, so we hiked all the way around the camp ground that they run in the summer and hiked up the north hill where they couldnt see us that well. when they did figure out we were there we just grabbed out stuff and ran
Give it a go.. Shouldn't be too much of a problem depending on where you go. They'll probably just warn you if they see you that it's 'at your own risk'.
