i had to run 2 mi for lax but i had a strained back and ythe doctor said i shouldnt have run but i needed too, so that i coukd try and make the team, i had 5min going inot my 2nd mile bu then my back gave out and i ened up with 16min it sucked so bad cause i now have a even more screwed back, and i didnt even make the team
highschools run the two mile but any other event put on by the USATF has distances like the 1500 or 3000. The US is still really hung up on the mile which is kinda wierd considering everyone else runs the 1500. I ran the duece as a freshman but dont do track anymore. We had an 8th grader who ran a sub 10 2 mile at that age. FUcking crazy!
uh try running 13 miles on a hot summer day for practice, i live in Illinois which is the third best state in the country, best 3 miles was 16:10, never ran 2 mile in track this year, just 800, but, we do have a kid who will probably do amazing in nationals next year, he goes to a neighboring high school, after Prom, staying out til 3 in the morning, he ran an 8:52 two mile and a 49 400, if you know anything about track that is RIDICULOUS
not so much of a trackie...10:05 was my best in high school...now I run long.
Next race is the Jay Peak 30.5 mile race on july 29th! whos up for that?!
kid you not! http://www.jaychallenge.com/ anyone from around that area wanna let me stay at their place? i got 2 other buds doing the race too. we're all college age kids.
running 2 miles and running 2 miles in competition as hard as you can is different... and yea, 2 mile doest explain how hard it is. its not the 32 hundred. it the 3 thousand and 200.
I used to do the two mile, mile and 800 every meet. Our coach made us do all of them untill the very end of the season. it was good conditioning I did the 800 in 1:58, which is damn fast to any one who knows that distance.
my school is state champs as cross country this year, and have agood shot at track champs too. my buddy runs like a fucking machine. heres a list of his personal records.
since we're talking about track, hows everyones team? our school has a legit shot at state. we got a sprinter running 10.6 100's, our 4x4 is running like a 3:22 or somehting
yeah... i thought i was good... you guys are showing me up big time.
i only ran it twice this year and the 2nd time i was feeling sick, so 11:19 deuce and 5:13 milewas my legit one and i feel like i can do better than that. I'm acutally pissed off by how little ive improved this season.
Do any of you guys try to ski and do indoor? It's hard. I get so fuck over at the beginning of the season because there are some weekends where i cant run at all
^the key to success is getting a good base period in where you only do runs...no workouts...it should last 10 weeks, then do workouts...so if you take extended periods of time off (winter, or summer), and jump into workouts, you will first be more prone to injury and second, won't improve greatly over the past year.
Run over the summer, get a good 500 miles in, you'll be so much better for the upcoming cross season...last summer I did over 700 in 10 weeks and was able to hold down a 60 minute 10 miler before the season even started.
my bad
100-12.9
200-24.9
400-54.8
600-1.39:7
the 100 and 200 times are my junior year i only ran the 400 this year and i got one race left on saturday...there is a kid on me team that ran a 9:46 and change i think he also ran a 4:30ish mile he was our best distance guy
this one time i was with my ski team in the team van at whistler, and we were doing dum shit like moshing each seat, so our coach pulled over made us put on our ski boots and run the rest of the way back to the hotel, it was like 14k. in ski boots. its was the longest run of my life, my shins hurt so bad after that one
hey i love this so many runners. and then the gay youngins who think they are fast and post thier shitty times. lol i love the 2 mile, everything just flows. yah well here is a killer track workout boys and girls, my distance team did this and competed against the sprinters, we wasted them:
2 mile warmup
600m all out, leave nothing left in the tank, you should come in about a 1:23-26 ish
5 minutes rest
8x200m repeats, on the minute (so if the leaders come in at 26, they get 34 secs of rest, if you come in at 40 sec, you get 20 sec of rest etc)
3 mile cool down
damn its so fun, you feel like shit, but very accomplished at the end, and you'll feel it in your races about 1.5-2 weeks later.
by the way jon...the record for our school 3200 is 9:08.9 not 9:47 and thats crazy fast
I was a miler/2 miler in high school-my fastest times were 5:20 for the mile and 11:30 for the two mile, and in cross country my fastest 5K was around 19 min
my school, saratoga in ny, has some of the best runners in the country. a few kids run on the footlocker ones they show on espn. i think were number one in the country still. im fat and dont run though, just thought id throw it out there.
Im a sprinter at my school but theres this kid that goes to our top rival school and he runs the mile in 4:08. WHAT!?!? and for you two milers, he just ran it in 9:01 hes an absolute animal
yo ever heard of the Taye brothers from Mass, or Ben True? They are all amazing runners, sub 4:10 milers. True graduated maybe two years ago, but at least one of the Tayes is still in highschool, probably a sophomore now
if running would fuck up your back, why the fuck would you go out for the lax team? its one of the most physically demanding and rough team sports. if you made the team youre back would be fucked up wioth one check. that was a retarded decision on your part
