So, seeing as ski season is coming to a close here fairly soon and biking season is getting into swing, I thought I'd make a thread where other people can tell me which trails are clear. The only ones in the Bozeman area that I know of now that are snow-free are Sypes Canyon and Brackett Creek (Truman is a mess of deadfall), so if anybody's been out riding lately tell me what's open! On another note, I also have a set of Shimano LX shifters and a rear derailleur sitting around that I need to get rid of if anybody wants them, and a 90-120mm Manitou Black Elite fork.
Are there good downhill trails in bozeman? I haven't ridden there, just curious, and sorry I can't answer your questions. But, does anyone else on here ride in the Flathead Valley?
Once Big Sky gets up and running their downhill trails are awesome, that's the only place I've ridden where I've actually scared myself. It'll be a while before the snow's gone from up there though.
I don't know about the dirt jump park, but sypes canyon is riding pretty well right now. I'd go riding with you, but I'm going to be skiing in the beartooths (or camping somewhere else if the weather sucks like it's supposed to). Sadly enough, that's about the only trail that's open right now unless you want to head up Bridger canyon and ride the bangtail divide trail.
Ok, cool, thanks. You should let me know if you ever come up to Whitefish. There are some fun trails here, and everything is pretty much dried out, but not dusty yet.
I rode Bozeman Creek about 7 miles in before it started lightning and raining too hard to go all the way to mystic. It was basically clear with the exception of a few mud puddles.
Everything's starting to clear up now, I think Emerald should be open within a few weeks or so. Then I can really test out the new 32 vanilla fork I just ordered!
The dirt jumps looked pretty good, except they were too muddy when i got there. They're pretty easy to find. Just take 7th from the Best Western City Center towards the interstate, take a right at the Hippo, and you're there. FYI
I hate those jumps, but I have 2 68 x 113 isis bottom brackets a 68 x 118 bottom bracket thats isis and a 128 x 68 also that is isis, if anyone wants them, along with a GT Ruckus Frame and Canondale chase frame. Alot more miscelanious parts too if your lookiin for somethin.
Oh wow, I totally forgot about the bmx park. I think just about everything around Bozeman is clear now, save for some of the stuff way up Hyalite. I rode Truman the other day and the creek crossings were almost hub-deep, it was pretty fun. South Cottonwood's riding well too, save for the rotting moose carcass in the center of the trail.
