its time to switch. well not yet. but soon. I use Apple computers, Linux Computers, and Windows Computers pretty much everyday for work.
and its time to switch to Windows.
I have had my hands on Windows Vista and it is handsdown in its Beta form the best mainstream operating system out right now.
its more stable than Apple OSX, its as secure as OSX, its prettier than OSX 10.4
and it has some amazing speed advantages. the network sytem unlike the one for windows XP which was designed for dial up is made for broadband. user interface is all 3d so you need a direct X 9 videocard. but the card wont have to switch between 2D and 3D constantly so less slowdown
the search feature is very much like the search feature in Mac it wont only look through file names but also inside the file so you can look for a file that has the term "Seth Morrison" more than 2 times in it.
the Audio engine has been beefed up. instead of having independent knobs that you dont use, such as mic volume main volume and all of those things. you have Main Volume and a new volume knob apears in the volume control panel for each new program
also their is a rating system. the first time you run it Windows Vista lookas at all of your components and gives them a rating. then it calculates all of these compnent scores together and gives the machine an overall score. weighing each differntly. CPU and videocard have more weight in the final score. this will be great for games since game developers will be able to put on their boxes requires a Winsat rating of 4 for computer to play. plus any app will be able to plug into winsat and configure itself for best performance on that machine.
along with Internet explorer 7 (very much the same as firefox) and a new email client too. along with sidebar and gadgets (like Yahoo and apple widgets or those linux ones
this Windows version is the best OS ive ever used and thats in its beta version, it has been delayed but I prefer that they delay it and make it even better rather than leaving anything out.
this Windows Version has a projected life expectancy of 10 years.
